  7. Its funny, actually it really isnt, but many communities if not all of them will balk and fight improvements in their EMS systems or fire and police departments. But you never seem to hear them argue about sanitation, or cable tv, cost of water if that is applicable.

Like someone else mentioned its all about education of the public, maybe we are to blame because we dont get out there enough to educate the public or the politicians. Considering the actual cost it would be, per household, for a 24/7/365 day dedicated Paramedic for your community is pennies, isnt that worth your life.

I am not knocking any local service, but adding a Paramedic or dedicated service to your community cant be over looked anymore.

Most people feel like well I will never need it so why should I have to pay for it all of the time. Well you pay for Insurance all of the time, and do you use it everyday, probably not.

I personally would pay, in some areas, it would be like a $ 1 a month to have a dedicated Paramedic sitting in my community even if they never left the station.

  9. I have to admit this big goof had tears is his eyes as well. I can honestly say I have never watched this show before, but I wouldnt of missed this episode. All I can say is WOW..

I can believe all of the love and support the friends and community showed not just for this but in the past, but i can not believe how much the show did for them. I feel like they went that extra mile just for the Arenas, and I dont think they do that for every family..

Good luck Jim, Gina and the rest of the family in your new home.

  11. Well if they have the proof to arrest this person or any person that committs a crime then they are innocent until proven guilty by the courts. By all means the department should suspend the member until it is thouroughly investigated, and if the charges are proved true, then fry his a**.

I dont know the whole story with this recent incident, but if he did this then he will pay.

Now I know it can be embarrising to an individual department, but just remember that there are thousands of volunteer and career members and these cases are in the minority. I mean there is more good that we do then bad. But I do agree it does seem " the press" loves to print or continue to print for days the bad.

Any department will get over this type of incident weather its a volly fd, career fd, pd, or ems agency

I also believe it is a NYS law that any new fd recruit has to go through at least an Arson background check, but I could be wrong

  12. to soonbff fist of all i have never heard of the nysp haveing a fire investigation team, they have investigators trained in fire investigation, also they do not and will not respond to every fire incendiary or accidental or other cause , in putnam county the c&o team does and will respond to any and all fires, and also to set you straight on how we work with the S.P. the c&o team makes a determination of a incendiary fire we then turn the case over for the S.P. to take over ,as far has training the volunteer c&o team of putnam county has more training and more experince investigating fires then the S.P. or the P.C.S.O.

right now in putnam co. there are (16) investigators on the team (9) are level (2) investigators and (4) are nationally certified investigators that do a great job.
