  10. The reason they check out medical calls and fires with out the FD is to save the tax payers money.  I'll explain:

To send a patrol car to check and advise will cost less in fuel and wear and tear then to send the same patrol car plus two engines, a ladder and rescue.

If there is a fire, it's cheaper for the cop to extinguish it wish an extinguisher then for the engines to run the pumps.  Add the cost of water from the Village Water Dept that is written off as a loss.  That's BIG tax payers savings!

    YOUR KIDDING US RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. After thinking it over and over and getting the dirty look from the other half, I have decided to put up the following items for sale. Anyone that might be interested dropm me a private message or e-mail, and we can discuss the prices..

    I have:

A third seat for a 2000 Ford Expedition, its brand new and never used.

    I have:

Scuba gear consisiting of a Dacor regulator and Octupus. A Oceanic BC, and also a whole bunch of other misc. dive gear. Its all in good shape and barely used.

  14. There always was a " training building and site" in West Harrison section of town ( the old Nike site). It was a one story block building that we would be able to live burn in. We could also live burn autos, do extrication and just about any other type of drill.

At some point the building became deterioted and it was stopped being used. Also the town was doing work to the area. Mostly the three departments in Harrison used it as well as anyone who asked.

West Harrison for the longest time talked about redoing the building or building a new one to train on. and to be used by other departments. I am not sure if this is the same plan everyone is talking about on this thread. Maybe 2503 can shed some light on this topic.

Although the training center in Valhalla is great, it was always easier to train right in our own district.
