  1. Part of the answer lies in the actions of the personnel on scene. If you "identify" a patient that may require treatment and/or transport then you place yourself in a position to do a formal RMA. Personally once "patient" contact is made an RMA should be secured for everyone not transported. Just the fact that a person would allow you to evalute them as opposed to stating on initial contact "I am fine, I do not need help" places the question that not only you but the "patient" saw a potential need for treatment and/or transport. CYA with an RMA while time consuming is always the safest bet to protect not only your agency but you personnally.

  2. An interesting part of the law states to "secure a permit" but to my knowledge no such permit exists. Is anyone aware of this "permit" and where you could secure one? It seems that the law states that one can be provided where the user resides in a county with a county police department. It would seem that Westchester County PD could either issue the permit or a blanket permit to departments similar to the blue and green light cards that agencies hand out. On the other hand, if you do secure a "Westchester County or a town" permit and leave that juristiction does that then make the scanner illegal since you are now in an area not covered by your permit? This law looks like a pandora's box the way it is written.

  3. Photos are not really that bad. I have had the same clarity issue on occasion. Two seperate issues arose: 1 are you using a multi point focus or single point. With single point it focuses on only one area of the piture and when you have ones with depth like the 3rd one down notice the front of the truck is clear and everything else starts to fuzz out further away the worse it gets. Second is to make sure you are using an action shot mode to speed up your shutter speed to get rid of blur from moving objects. What camera are you using?

PS. On a side note - thank you for noting Peekskill OEM onscene.

  4. I just thought of something. 53 Truck needs to be covered 24/7 due to its isolated location. It looks to me as if the powers that be are going to go against their own policies here. Not to mention almost anything on City Island is usually something. I wonder if they're going to make us move another truck over there to cover, or just live with it. Utter and complete BS.

JBE does the call sign L 51 acting 53 sound familiar. That has been there cover all along, make someone an "acting" unit and it is covered even if another area is stripped.

  5. Another King Bloomberg idea. City Island is a 3 minute response time for the next closest ladder and comprised mostly of wood frame houses put so close together that every fire is an exposure problem. As usually this is more than likely a decision by a group of pencil pushers looking at numbers on a spread sheet and no real grasp of reality. Bean counters: No fires in an area = No need to resources. The Response Community: No fires in an area = We are overdue for the big one.

  6. Looks awesome, also looks like a lot of quality hard work went into it. Who did the conversion?

The conversion was done by the entire OEM staff. Alot of sweat-equity is in this truck. Helps to have a diverse group of guys willing to put in long hours needed to get the job done. Will get some interior shots up soon. Kudos goes to the entire team.
