x 635,
Yes the bridge is dangerous, but it wasnt when they built it. They couldnt forsee all the people moving upstate and commuting back and forth to work. I think the quick fix would be to eliminate commercial traffic during the rush hours. That, or make people who commute alone pay a higher toll, or double the toll altogether during the rush hour. The other suggestion is to just close lanes and force traffic to back up so that everyone goes slower.
The real problem though is the not in my backyard mentality that everyone has in this country. We b**** about the price of gas but whens the last time an new refinery opened? Whens the last time a powerplant openned? Look at all the people who want indian point to close. They moved into an area that had a nuclear power plant and now they want the plant to close so they dont have to move again.
Until people grow up and realize the need for these services, the bridge isnt going anyplace, not now, not in five years, and not in ten when they finally might have some sort of plan to replace it.

648,
I think you have found a home for ENG 119 until you can find the funds to purchase it for yourself.
-
Mt Vernon had a structure fire, unknown address, fire on second floor of building or house. Cam502 should know more.
-
Seth,
All the way to California and the water but no pictures of any ducks. I think we are all very disappointed.
-
Have to agree with Grumpy, keep 10 codes for everyday use and use plain english at your major incidents.

Companies started to pick up around 0400, eng 17 and 18 to the scene for relief. Prolonged ops with fire in the rear on the 2 and 3 floors. Very difficult access to pockets in rear due to overhead power lines in the street. House set back approx 25 ft from street. Collapse of chimney on side 2 into house with possible impending collapse of 2 side. Ops likely to last through the night due to collapse of roof and unstability of the structure. Still unknown if any victims remain inside.

Dont most people have mom, dad, home, stored in their cell phone? Im pretty sure that most of us do. Ever called someone and they answered by saying hello to you by name? Thats cause your name comes up on their phone when you call. So just by picking up the cell phone and calling someone is going to get you someone who might know something about his person. Maybe it takes two phone calls instead of one, but it really isnt anything new, just adding a new name to something that has already been in your phone for years.

Anyone have any pics of south salems station?
-
JBE,
Why those two words? Does a 10-60 make you hate your job because it means lots of movement?
-
Guys,
If your on the towns and villages list and didnt take the Mt. Vernon or White Plains test the best advice is to take your time. You have approx. 5 minutes to complete every station. The only ones that take more than a minute or so were the ladder climb and the stairs. I finished both in about 3 minutes.
If your on the Mt. Vernon and White Plains list start getting in shape and working out big time. I suggest cardiac because there really isnt much heavy lifting going, you just need to be able to get through it as fast as you can.
Good luck to all.

The tower is in Station 3 on Third Street while the Mack is most likely down at station 2 on Fulton Ave.
Also look for the new Seagrave Tower at station 3.

x 635,
to answer your question, they still exist because they can. Their leaders do not care about the safety of their members or anyone else.
