To add to what BNechis was saying about their high rise fire and the EMS agencies being on the Trunked system:
I was on an ambulance coming in from Eastchester to that scene and as soon as we signed on, we were in constant contact with every other EMS crew. The EMS IC had every thing planned out and we knew where we were to park, check in, and stage all before we had gotten out of our district. It was well run from our stand point, however, I was not part of the fire side so I can not comment on their communications.
As far as the storm a few weeks ago, I do know that all agencies that ended up in Pelham to assist were on the Trunked System, using Fire 18. All the calls were being logged by 60 Control and as units freed up, they were given a new assignment. All units on Fire 18 had an idea of who was where and what was occuring and I feel it worked out very well.

57B4 has been Out of Service since the 17th.
There is a Ribbon-Cutting ceremony today for 57B3 which will then be officially In Service.

Best I could say would be to go on Ebay and see if any of the ones you are looking to offload are up for auction. Follow them and see what they end up selling for.

Dave,
First off, congrats.
I was up there during the massive flooding and I've got to say, you are joining one great bunch of people.
Enjoy.

Thanks LTNRFD. Wasn't sure if they were going to change the response patterns.

If this rig is going to be first due to I-95 now, those scene lights should be very beneficial.

When can we expect this breaking news? Monday? This week?

The results are out.

I was driving down the Sprain this morning and I dont recall seeing a single turn-around along the entire stretch from Jackson Ave to 100 B. There seems to be plenty of space for at least one or two, any reason why they havnt put any in?
-
Aside from exmrvfc's photo taking location there really weren't any good places to get photos. I drove around for a good amount of time but with all the closures and traffic etc, the only half decent location I could find was the Potter Ave bridge (you still couldn't see the trucks though they were blocked by the toll plaza). By the time I got out, there wasn't much to photograph.

Cpage, you beat me too it. Ive been hearing EMS 1 a lot these past few days on the FD frequency.
Oswego, any info?

In this day and age of high tech electronics etc, why would there not be a second line that runs to all these sites for the exact reason that we are dealing with now? There was obviously some form of wire to these sites before the fiber optic network was installed, was that completely taken out for the new system?
-
Is there a set up at the County PD or Traffic Management Center in Hawthorne? If so, wouldn't there be a separate line from those locations out to the transmitter/repeater sites?

CBS reported a construction jack fell. One FF with minor injuries, the other with a head injury.
-
Not sure of exact dispatch time, but I heard 60 sending units there around 620 this morning while I was still half asleep.

Ive officiated these games twice (ice hockey) and will be performing other off ice duties this year. If you can get out to see any of the events, I strongly advise that you do. As for the Opening Ceremony, havnt been to any. All I know is that there are a lot of people and its long, hot, and uncomfortable, at least if you are an athlete wearing your warm-up suit (info from first hand sources).

Pelham and Pelham Manor units were advised numerous times to report to the Pelham Train Station for trains full of 'angry and disorderly youths'. One of said trains by-passed Pelham completely and went on to Mount Vernon. Also, PPD and PMPD followed several large groups into Mount Vernon with no incidents. I am unaware of any action taken after those groups left the Villages.

Correct, still calling in relief companies as needed. The entire building is being taken down and the Engine Cos are keeping the dust down with a line or two in operation.

Wanted to keep track of what my bro was up to, but couldnt listen at all. There was a note saying the feeds were down due to a problem with Verizon.
It is back up today though.

Lincoln Ave: Engine 6 and Ladder 2
Fulton Ave: Engine 5 and Rescue 1
3rd St: Engine 3, Ladder 3, Battalion
Oak St: Engine 2 and Engine 4
Those are the locations of the usual in service rigs. There are also other units housed as well, however I do not know what they are and where they are kept.

Funny you mention that. I had heard the dispatch for them but not the nature. We were out on a water condition and could hear someone chatting away on 46.06. It was definitely a surprise to hear someone else on that frequency.
During transmissions, someone clearly stated to bring in the chimney extinguisher to cool down the ash, and that they had removed all the burning material from fireplace. Other than that, I cant help you. It should shed some light though.

As an Ice Hockey official, I can tell you for fact that there is only a single EMT present at High School games. Some schools do have trainers that are also there, but I have never seen an ambulance on stand by.
