4 posts in this topic

What is good, bad and the ugly of having pre-conected extracation tools inside the front bumper of the departments resuce. Also, If not extracation tools should anything be inside the front bumper.

We have a trash line in our Engines bumper, 150' of 1 3/4" pre-connect that we can use for small fires and car fires. It is rapidly deployed and easy to pick up and re-pack. A lot of rescues have the tools pre-connected in the compartment any way, so I dont see how it would be any more convenient to have it stored in the bumper. Different preferences for different depts, I guess :)

I think that putting extrication tools in the front bumper is a great idea. Everyone pulls forward into a scene, you never back into a scene, and what if you pull into a scene and find that you can't get your extrication tools out because of the police and EMS units on scene?? It may happen!!!

I think its a very wise choice to put them in the front bumper, and not in the compartments.

East Fishkill has a trashline preconnect in the front of almost all of their engines and also our Squad Truck has two cord reels in the front in addition to an 1 3/4" trashline preconnect
