PURCHASE — Law enforcement agencies in the Lower Hudson Valley celebrated their profession and welcomed 77 new members to the fold this morning at graduation ceremonies for the 121st Westchester County Police Academy basic recruit class.

"In my view, policing is more than a job or profession,'' Westchester County Police Commissioner Thomas Belfiore told the crowd of cops, family members and friends gathered at the SUNY Purchase College Performing Arts Center. "It is a craft... the learning never stops.''

The graduates, from 23 police departments and other agencies in the region, received basic training in all aspects of law enforcement and now return to their local headquarters.

Read more about this story tomorrow in The Journal News.

You guys want to well wish the academy class, great. This thread will not be hijacked to complain about media coverage of other events. That has been discussed in these forums many, many times in the past.
