Troopers nab drivers on Sprain, I-684, Routes 6, 22

Troopers arrested five motorists on charges of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol during weekend traffic stops in the Lower Hudson Valley, state police said today.

Troopers Kevin Quintero and Andre Riche charged a 43-year-old Memphis, Tenn., man with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after stopping him last night on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh.

A 52-year-old Wassaic, N.Y., man had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.19 percent when Trooper Frederick Ortiz stopped him on Interstate 684 in New Castle on Saturday night when he failed to dim his headlights while driving behind the trooper, police said. He was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.

Quintero and Riche also charged a 45-year-old Yonkers man with DWI at 9:53 p.m. Friday after stopping him on the Sprain in Greenburgh.

Troopers from the Brewster barracks charged an 18-year-old Southeast man with driving while ability impaired by drugs and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, misdemeanors, after a traffic stop early Friday on Route 22.

Brewster troopers also charged a 26-year-old Danbury, Conn., man with driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop early Saturday on Route 6 in Southeast, Sgt. Joseph Malorgio said today.
