7 arrested at check point in Cortlandt Manor

CORTLANDT MANOR - A seven-hour sobriety check point by state and county police that ended earlier this morning on Route 6 resulted in police arresting seven drivers and seizing more than 10 pounds of marijuana from two Poughkeepsie men.

Among those arrested during the check that ended at 4 a.m. were Dale Smart, 27, of 106 S. Cherry St., and Anthony McIntosh, 30, of 36 Roosevelt Ave., both of Poughkeepsie, who were charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony, after troopers and county officers found 10.3 pounds of the drug in their car, police said.

Smart was additionally charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor.

Other arrests during the check point include:

- A 31-year-old Sleepy Hollow man charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

- A 56-year-old Poughkeepsie man charged with DWI.

- A 25-year-old Brooklyn man charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor, speeding, failure to comply, failure to maintain the proper lane, violations, after officers caught him driving a car stolen from Brooklyn. That investigation is continuing and police say more charges are pending.

- A 50-year-old Ossining man charged with DWI.

- A 22-year-old Edwardsville, Pa., man charged with DWI.

- A 19-year-old Cortlandt woman charged with DWI.

- A 23-year-old Peekskill man charged with DWI, and

- An 18-year-old Millwood man charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
