Ardsley Firefighters Save Family

4 posts in this topic

From Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner.

Ardsley Mayor Jay Leon has advised me that on Thanksgiving Day, in a driving rainstorm, four Ardsley volunteer firefighters returning home on the Saw Mill River Parkway saved a family (that included a three and one year old) that was stuck in a submerged car within the overflowing rapids of the Saw Mill River. A special thanks to the 4 firefighters: Don Black, PJ Murray, Lenny Breindel and Michael Carson for their valor and their spirit of community service. I would very much like to honor each of these volunteer firefighters at an upcoming meeting of the Greenburgh Town Board as our Citizens of the Month.

Ardsley Mayor Leon has been pushing the Town Board to turn foreclosed property at the Waterwheel into affordable housing for volunteer firefighters. The above incident highlights the value of our volunteer fire departments. The members of the department are always available to help the community. They are dedicated, brave, responsible and always put your safety first. If we lose our volunteer fire departments  because of the lack of affordable housing we will lose an important community asset. I support Mayor Leon's initiative to turn foreclosed property into affordable housing for volunteer firefighters. Volunteer firefighters need a place to live!

I was in a few classes with Mike Carson at WCC a few years ago. Seeing his name in there does not surprise me at all.

Way to go guys. Great job.
