Times: Time Dispatched- 0818, Time Clear- 1117

Location: Somers Fire District/ behind Somerstowne Centre, Routes 202 and 100, Town of Somers. Spill extended in Croton Falls Fire District.

Frequency: 46.26, 154.220

Units Operating: Somers C2442, E180, E183; Croton Falls C2071; NYSP, NYS ENCON Police, NYC DEP Police; NYC DEP HAZMAT, Westchester County Dept of Health, NYS DOT, Town of Somers Highway Dept.

Description Of Incident: Contracted US MAIL Cargo Truck's fuel line split, causing fuel to be sprayed out from engine.

Spill originated at the North Salem Post Office in Croton Falls Fire District. Spill became heavy at the intersections of Route 22 and 116 in Purdy's and extended down Route 116, onto Route 202, then onto Route 100, and into the Somerstowne Centre, and finally stopped at the loading dock behind the Somers Post Office. It is estimated the truck spilled 20-25 gallons of Diesel fuel. Spill located when NYSP Trooper car slid at the intersection of Routes 116 and 202 in Somers. Trooper investigated by following spill to the Post Office. Truck Driver received numerous citations from NYSP, NYS ENCON and WC DOH.
