WASHINGTON, Pa. -- One firefighter was killed and another was hurt when a wall collapsed on them as they fought a fire Sunday morning.

The flames broke out inside an old motorcycle shop on Allison Avenue shortly after 10 a.m.

According to Washington Mayor Ken Westcott, the firefighter who died was 27-year-old Jeremy Labella.

Westcott said Labella was the first city firefighter to die in the line of duty since 1955.

Medics transported the second firefighter to Washington Hospital with what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
