Anyone heard of this organization? There was a picture in the NY Times of a guy who was/is a member standing by the fire scene in the city last weekend. A quick search on google yielded nothing so I guess they don't really exist anymore, but does anyone know their function when they were around?

If I remember correctly they were part of civil defense.

Aux FFºs are realy not around anymore, however you will find it on paper in places. They do however have an explorer program now.

If anyone participates on the Rant page it was said that this guy is a kook who is not affiliated with any organization and just does this for the publicly. There is indepth details posted to back up the statement, included one that said a simple Google of the guys name will verify some of this.
