Local Wal-Mart’s and American Red Cross Partner to Offer

Free First Aid Kits to Kids

On Saturday, August 25, beginning at 11 a.m., at the Wal-Marts in both Oneonta and Vestal, children will have the opportunity to build (and keep!) first aid kits, free of charge. This event is made possible by generous grants and support from each of the local Wal-Mart stores. (Children must be accompanied by an adult).

I'll be at the Vestal one

800 Kids Receive Free First Aid Kits!

Body: To kick-off the upcoming National Disaster Preparedness Month in September, the American Red Cross Southern Tier Chapter partnered with local Wal-Mart stores in Vestal and Oneonta, NY, on Saturday, August 25, to offer Free First Aid Kits for Kids.

The kits were assembled right in the store – and all supplies and materials were generously donated by these Wal-Mart stores. In total 800 kids (in just 4 hours!) had the opportunity to build a first aid kit with the Red Cross.

This event reached a diverse group of youth, from tots to college bound students, settling in for the opening weekend at many area colleges and universities. Both the Red Cross and local Wal-Mart stores look forward to this being an annual event.

If you missed it, join the Southern Tier Chapter at the Oakdale Mall on Saturday, September 22, beginning at 11 a.m., for another opportunity for kids to build first aid kits.
