We are saddened to announce the untimely passing of Retired P.O. Richard J. Capraro Sr. Officer Capraro died on Sunday, August 26, 2007. Our condolences go out to P.O. Richie Capraro Jr, K9-6 YPD, and the rest of his family as well as those from the YPD whom worked with Richard Sr.

Arrangements:

Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial in Christ The King Church on Thursday, August 30th, at 10 AM. Interment, Mt. Hope Cemetery. WHALEN & BALL F.H. 168 Park Ave., Yonkers (914) 965-5488

Obituary:

Richard J. Capraro, Sr. (Ret. YPD) died on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at age 67. Born on May 22, 1940, to Frank and Mildred (DeStefano) Capraro in Yonkers, where he was raised and graduated from Commerce High School. Mr. Capraro was a Yonkers Policeman for over 24 years, retiring in 1988. Working out of the 2nd Precinct and Warrants Squad. On May 6, 1962, he married Lillian Baker in St. Anthony's Church. She survives, living in Yonkers. Richard is survived by his four children, Richard J. Capraro, Jr. (YPD) and his wife, Lynn of Mahopac, Kimberly Granich and her husband, Matthew of Yonkers, Francis (Butch) Capraro and his wife, Joette of New Rochelle and John Capraro and his wife, Emily of Del Ray Beach, FL. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Richard, Tina, Jessica, Amanda, Joseph, Nicholas, and Vivian; his brother, Frank Capraro of East Fishkill and his sister, Susan Genesky of LaGrange and nephews, Scott, Todd, and Joey and his niece, Gina and several nieces and nephews.
