SCARSDALE - A Westchester County police car collided with a Scarsdale sanitation Cushman vehicle late this morning, prompting an investigation and the closure of Route 22.

There was no immediate word on injuries. The crash occurred at 11:16 a.m. on Route 22 at Oxford Road. The road remained closed as of noon.

...that might explain the WCPD activity. Either way, hope everyone is ok!

YONKERS - Westchester County and city police are searching northeast Yonkers for five young men who fled from a car that appears to contain stolen merchandise, Yonkers Police Lt. Robert Williams said at noon today.

One of the county police cars that was participating in the search collided with a Scarsdale sanitation Cushman vehicle, prompting the closure of Route 22. There was no immediate word on injuries in the crash, which occurred at 11:16 a.m. on Route 22 at Oxford Road. The entire road remained closed as of noon.

Williams said a county patrol car stopped a vehicle shortly after 11 a.m. on the southbound Bronx River Parkway near Garth Road on the Scarsdale-Yonkers border. Five young men jumped out of the car and ran.

Inside the vehicle, police found contraband flat-screen televisions and computers that may have been stolen, Williams said.

The search, which was continuing as of noon near the Bronx River Parkway, has prompted a lockdown at the Annunciation School and Fatima School in that section of the city.

Police had yet to locate any of the suspects. Yonkers police dogs and a county police helicopter were assisting in the search.
