BREAKING NEWS: West Harrison man threatens family, in stand-off with police

WEST HARRISON — A man is holed up in his house on Old Orchard Street after threatening his family this evening, police said.

The man, who has not been identified, came home intoxicated and confronted his wife, who has filed for divorce, Police Chief David Hall said at the scene, near Rockland Road.

The woman took her three children and fled from the house, then called police, Hall said. She told police that her husband possesses a firearm, he said.

The man refused to come out when police arrived and told them he wanted to speak with a police officer he knows, Hall said. That officer is now speaking with the man inside the house.

The man's family took refuge in a safe location down the street.

The family declined to comment.
