Engine Company Errors - The Dirty Dozen

This class examines the twelve most common tactical errors made by engine companies on the fireground. These errors are shared by all ranks, from the IC to the rookie, and are compounded over time by a lack of quality drill instruction. Learn how to recognize and avoid these errors through enhanced hose line management training.This class will utilize an interactive approach to learning. The twelve errors will be discussed in depth using various levels of audience participation and on screen visual fire ground footage and simulations. The presenter will discuss why each item is problematic and provide logical training solutions for each error.

Ray McCormack is a 24 year veteran of the F.D.N.Y. and a Lieutenant with Engine 69 in Harlem. McCormack is a New York State Certified Fire Instructor. Prior to promotion he was assigned to Ladder 24 in Mid-Town Manhattan for 13 years. McCormack was a Hands on Training (HOT) Instructor in Live Fire Attack for FDIC and FDIC West, where he specialized in attack line and interior safety officer. He has lectured at Firehouse Expo, FDIC and FDIC East. McCormack has been published in FireEngineering magazine, Firerescue Interactive, Minnesota Fire Chief, W.N.Y.F. (With New York Firefighters) and Firenuggets.com. McCormack has a B.A. from New York Institute of Technology.
