Disabled boat prompts rescue

Several people were rescued from a 24-foot powerboat that had a mechanical failure and took on water near Croton Point about 9 p.m. last night. Rockland County's Marine Unit joined Croton and Nyack fire boats in responding to the scene to assist multiple uninjured passengers on board before Sea Tow personnel towed the boat, said Sea Tow Capt. Walter Garschagen. A powerboat mechanical failure prompted another rescue in the same area the previous night.
