CPR has been successfully performed on many cats and dogs. The ASPCA or Human society has even supplied a few area agencies with animal BVMs. Its pretty easy, hold the snout closed, straighten the neck, wrap your lips around the whole thing and blow. Should you however have to clear anything from the airway it was suggested to open the mouth and suck on the nose (that right there is absolutely my line) Compressions are done with the animal on its right side. Place your hands next to the elbow just behind the fore legs. Follow pediatric guidelines for compression depth and ratios. Allegedly there may have even been a successfully intubated dog in the Bronx after it was struck by a car. In NYC call PD and they will transport you to the Manhattan Animal Hospital, but bring some plastic saving fido of fluffy is not cheap.
