Live Burn Drill Injures 2 FFS

1 post in this topic

From The Secret List:

Hey...

2 firefighters in NC were injured during a live burn training exercise at was reported as a former "open-air market" in Dunn yesterday. Reports are that the most seriously injured was an instructor. He was taken to a nearby burn center with 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns to his arm and hand. Another firefighter with minor blistering was taken to the hospital as well. Both were treated and released. Investigators say the materials being used to start the fire accidentally reached ignition temperature while the instructor was nearby. Any additional information will be posted at www.FirefighterCloseCalls.com as it becomes available.

While not specifically referring to this incident since all the facts are not yet available, we are still reminded of how critical the strict following of NFPA #1403 is to manage the risk of live training fires.

Take Care-BE CAREFUL,

BillyG
