CT Dispatching

4 posts in this topic

I was wondering who certifies/oversees municipal CT dispatching centers. I know DPH oversees EMS, CFPC oversees fire, DPS oversees police, but I have always wondered who made sure dispatch centers did their jobs, and correctly.

CT DPS has overseen the dispatch centers for years. They also have a 80 hour telecomm class for dispatchers which I think is now mandatory.

Yep, it's mandatory, as is EMD certification and in turn CPR.

The CT Dept. of Public Safety (DPS) has a sub-division called OSET (Office of Statewide Emergency Telecommunications) that oversees 9-1-1 training and certification. Their headquarters is up in Middletown.

There's also a phone company training facility in West Hartford that provides training for the 9-1-1 ANI/ALI equipment.
