Units: YFD See below. YPD 3rd, 2nd PCT patrol units, ESU Truck 2, Truck 3, R/C 850 (ESU LT); Empress (Numerous); OEM and Civil Defense.

Description: Fire 1st floor of 7-story brick OMD sprinkler & standpiped building.

Exposure 1- Street.

Exposure 2- Street (Van Cortland Park Ave)

Exposure 3- Driveway and Van Cortland Park

Exposure 4- 6-story brick OMD with 30-foot alley.

1851hrs- Original call for smoke from 1st floor apartment. Now receiving numerous calls for smoke in stairwells and coming from vents on multiple floors. B-1 req. 5th engine while enroute (312).

1852hrs- L-74 rpts people on the fire escape, nothing showing from front. B-1 advising building is sprinklered and standpiped.

1853hrs- B-1 O/S with 10-29 in apartment 1A B/O/O E-304.

1854hrs- B-1 rpts 10-30. Car 6 (Arson) responding.

1856hrs- Car 5 (Safety) responding.

1858hrs- B-1 req. 2nd Alarm. Fire on 1st floor rear blowing out (1) window and blocking rear fire escape.

1859hrs- B-2 responding from gas odor assignment.

1900hrs- B-1 req. 3rd Alarm. Incoming units to respond in via Van Cortland Park Ave. Fire Control receiving numerous calls for people trapped in apartments.

1905hrs- B-1 req. 4th Alarm.

1910hrs- B-1 S/C 4 additional BC's.

1915hrs- Fire out (2) rear 1st floor windows, auto exposing to 2nd floor.

1919hrs- Numerous residents evacuating building on front and side (exp. 2) fire escapes. Numerous calls for people trapped. People out multiple windows in rear on 4th, 5th and 6th floors.

1920hrs- General Alarm. L-70 to scene. Occupants on 4th and 5th floor rear screaming out windows for help.

1922hrs- TL-75 to rear.

1924hrs- M/A New Rochelle and Mount Vernon into the city.

1925hrs- TL-75 removing occupants from 5th floor, including (1) firefighter with an infant.

1928hrs- TL-75 removing approx. (7) occupants, adults and children from 4th and 5th floors. Co's, along with PD, removing occpants from fire escape on Exp. 2 (VCPA) side.

1930hrs- Empress being notified of (8) occupants removed by TL-75. Victims with smoke inhalation and lacerations.

1933hrs- M/A Fairview (L-1) to cover Sta. 1.

1935hrs- M/A Mount Vernon E-2 to cover Sta. 13.

1937hrs- Fire now blowing out 6-9 windows in the rear. Heavy smoke pushing out front of building.

1939hrs- M/A Greenville E-151 to cover Sta. 1. Co's opening up roof. Heavy fire conditions. Recall of off-duty manpower.

1946hrs- B-1 ordering all companies out of building. Heavy fire spreading vertically and horizontally in rear. Floors 1-4 heavily involved. TL-71 reporting very heavy fire conditions in rear and evacuating the roof.

1955hrs- Empress treating (9) civilians ATT. (1) transported to St. John's. Reports of several residents unaccounted for.

2000hrs- Fire blowing out (16) windows in rear on all floors. TL-75 going to work in rear. L-73 setting up on Exp. 2 side. TL-71 set up in front.

2025hrs- Fire in rear is gas fed. Gas lines can be heard blowing. Collapse of ceillings on 1st and 2nd floors. 1 line also in operation in rear w/TL-75. Exposure problem on Exp. 4 side.

2022hrs- B-4 reporting a firefighter down. YPD R/C 850 (ESU LT) req. Empress and ESU Truck 3 for same. Fire running cockloft across entire roof area.

2042hrs- Heavy fire on all floors and through the roof. Setting up ladder pipe in front. (1) firefighter being transported by Empress.

2048hrs- (2) ladder pipes (74, 72), (1) TL (71) in operation in front. (1) TL (75) in operation in rear. E-301, E-305; L-76 in service with recall manpower. E-305 to cover Sta. 13.

2059hrs- B-1 reports co's putting (2) lines into operation out windows in exp. 4. (4th and 5th floor windows) YFD Rehab Unit enroute.

2100hrs- E-315, L-77 in service to cover Sta. 12.

2130hrs- E-309 dropping supply line down Caryl Ave to Mclean Ave. Car 80 at repair shop putting apparatus into service.

2140hrs- B-1 (Progress Report) rpts (2) Tower Ladders, (2) ladder pipes in operation. (2) lines in operation out of Exp. 4. Heavy fire through roof.

2200hrs- Still have heavy fire through the roof. L-76 and L-79 being put into service.

2258hrs- L-78 is in service, responding to Sta. 13.

0005hrs- B-1 req. additional Engine and Truck for relief of E-304/L-74.

0037hrs- CMD reports main body of fire is K/D. Collapse danger exists for building. Still occupants unaccounted for. PD, Red Cross and Civil Defense attempting to locate all residents for head count.

0700hrs- At this time, (1) occupant still unaccounted for.

2200hrs- (1) confirmed DOA located inside the building.
