...fire weather watch in effect from thursday afternoon through

thursday evening...

the national weather service in albany has issued a fire weather

watch...which is in effect from thursday afternoon through

thursday evening across eastern new york...except for herkimer and

hamilton counties...as well as southern vermont...western

massachusetts and northwest connecticut.

the combination of very dry weather...relative humidity values

dropping below 30 percent and increasing gusty southerly breezes

reaching or exceeding 25 mph...will produce potential red flag

conditions by tomorrow afternoon. the only counties excluded

from the watch are herkimer and hamilton counties where enough

rain fell in the past 5 days to not warrant a fire weather watch.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions

are forecast to possibly occur. listen for later forecasts and

possible red flag warnings.
