FDNY Engine 80/23 Truck question

8 posts in this topic

Is 80/23 still operating from a differnet location after the unfortunate fire at thier quarters last year? or have they returned back to their home?

If they are not back yet, is there a time scale as to how long it will be before they can move back?

thanks in advance guys

E-80 is still running out of E-69, TL-23 is still running out of E-37. Don't know how long before they are back home.

Last I heard, the city was putting out bids for the work. I am sure they are not in any rush to fix the house. But I am sure if it was a police station they would have had it all fixed and everyone moved back in.

I'm surprised they're going to an outside vendor. The lower manhattan house that was scorched about two years ago(I think) was repaired quickly and apparently quite beautifully by the FDNY buildings guys.

Might be apples and oranges, 80/23's house was pretty much trashed from the pix I saw a few days after it happened.

Guy from 80 engine was detailed to my house a couple of nights ago. No work has begun and they're is some pressure being applied by the buildings guys to be able to do the work. They did a great job in the quarters of 55 engine. Hopefully they get the job, because the work that I've seen done by outside contractors in the firehouse has been terrible!

Those company's will be out of their house for about 2 more years.

I was detailed to 23 truck a few days after the fire. We went back there to try to salvage some stuff and the place was a wreck. From what they told me, the reason they were going to an outside contractor was b/c the wooden floor joists were badly burned and that buildings dosent do that type of work. I dont know how true that is.
