Woman Injured When Van Strikes Fire Truck

-- A woman is in the hospital after authorities said she crashed her van into the back of a fire truck Wednesday on Hwy. 421 near the Peace Haven Road exit.  

Firefighters were putting out a small median fire when the van hit the fire truck. No firefighters were injured.  

The woman, whose name wasn?t immediately available, was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

I am assuming the engine driver had properly placed the engine to avoid personnel being struck by a vehicle. Good thing he did, he saved those guys lives. Too many times drivers do not successfully block traffic from the scene, and distaster can and will eventually occur.

And the cops b**** and moan when rigs are parked across the lanes, shutting down the highway! Ha!!!
