Yorktown- Suspected Arson Fire 4/12/2010

Location: Yorktown Commercial District

Frequency: 46.26, Fire 17, Fireground 7

Units Operating: Engine 270, Engine 273, Ladder 51, Rescue 16, 2531, Batt 17

Weather Conditions: Clear, warm

Description Of Incident:

On April 12th at 7:17am, YHFD was toned out to start the day with a possible structure fire. Engine 270, Engine 273, Ladder 51 and Rescue 16 all signed on responding within minutes. Engine 270 arrived on scene seconds later to find water flowing out the second story of the commercial structure. Ladder 51 arrived and secured access to, and checked for fire extension to the roof.

PD was on location stating the fire was extinguished due to the sprinkler system and noted signs of a possible arson job. Engine 273 and Rescue 16's crews then did a quick sweep of the building to ensure all fire was extinguished, and shut down the sprinkler system.

YHFD members then stood-by over the next few hours while the Cause and Origin teams preformed their preliminary investigations. All units cleared the scene at around 10:45am.

At This time the fire is labeled as suspicious and investigations are ongoing.
