Redding (CT) Police Dept. - 2010 Express Van/Animal Control Vehicle

1 post in this topic

The Redding CT Police Department recently received a new Chevrolet Express cargo van, assigned to their Animal Control Division, which replaces the previous Ford Explorer.

Lighting needs, while simpler than a standard patrol vehicle, were still an important consideration as the Animal Control Officer operates at all times of day and night in many weather conditions. As the primary concern was for vehicles approaching from the rear, a Liberty lightbar was installed above the rear cargo doors to provide maximum protection at the back of the vehicle. It was also reversed and high intensity LED takedown lights installed, to provide rearward area lighting at night. LIN3s in the grille, LAW2 HideAways in the rear taillights and Sound Off Predator IIs on each front corner, complete the lighting system.

The 18 inch Havis Consolidator console contains the department radios, Havis switch panel, Whelen siren amplifier, portable radio charger and Mag Lite. Storage cabinetry, a front barrier partition and PacMount tool tracks were all installed in the cargo compartment for stowage of equipment and tools with sufficient space still available for a portable kennel for animal containment. Whelen M6 LEDs installed in the roof, were integrated with the OEM dome lights to provide additional work lighting inside the vehicle.

A roof mounted ventilation system and fully reflective graphics package complete the outside of the vehicle.

Specialty Warning Systems has provided installation, repair service and upfitting to the Redding Police Department for many years and appreciates the proactive working relationship we have shared with the RPD.
