Arctic Cat Recall -- Possible Fire Hazard

CPSC, Arctic Cat Inc. Announce Recall of All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs)

The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.  

Product: Arctic Cat FIS and TBX Model ATVs

Units: 16,200  

Manufacturer/Importer: Arctic Cat Inc., of Thief River Falls, Minn.  

Hazard: The fuel tank used on some all-terrain vehicles could develop a fuel leak. If this occurs, a fire hazard with the possibility of injury and property damage could occur.

Incidents/Injuries: There have been no reported incidents of fire or injury.  

Description:  

The recalled includes 2005 Arctic Cat 500 and 650 FIS, and 400 and 500 TBX model ATVs.

The FIS models affected by this recall have the vehicle identification number (VIN) ranges of 4UF05ATV15T226237 through 4UF05ATV15T242874, and 4UF05ATV55T246510 through 4UF05ATV55T248189. The TBX models have VIN ranges of 4UF05ATV15T221345 through 4UF05ATV15T223967, and 4UF05ATVX5T251024 through 4UF05ATV55T251397.  

The VIN is located on the left rear frame tube of the vehicle near the upper shock mount.

2005 500 4x4 Auto LE  2005 500 4X4 Auto  

2005 500 4X4 Manual  2005 650 V2 4X4 Auto  

2005 650 V2 4X4 Auto LE 2005 400 4x4 Auto TBX  

2005 500 4X4 Auto TBX

Manufactured in: Thief River Falls, Minn.  

Sold at: Arctic Cat dealerships nationwide from September 2004 through March 2005 for between $5,500 and $7,500.  

Remedy: Consumers should stop using these ATVs immediately.  

Registered owners have been notified about this recall by mail. Consumers with a recalled ATV should contact their local Arctic Cat ATV dealer to schedule the free repair. If consumers are unsure if their ATV is affected, they should contact Arctic Cat. Consumers should have the vehicle identification number (VIN) of the ATV available when they call.
