MPFD Contract Ratitification

After a long 2 1/2 years, IAFF Local 4746 which represents 21 employees of the Mashantucket Pequot (tribal) Fire Department vote favorably last night to accept our first contract. The negotiating committee did a fine job of getting a fair contract for the next three years. For some this may not seem as a big deal but for us it is. We are the first tribal fire department who organized under Tribal Law (non federal sponsored department) to receive a contract from our employers. During the process the Local and the Tribal Government ran a very respectful and honorable negotiation process, all in good faith.

Our department covers the Mashantucket (Western) Peqout Tribal Naton lands in the town of Ledyard, CT. We also protect the Foxwoods Resort, MGM Grand at Foxwoods, all tribal government properties and tribal member's homes.

What was some of the give backs ? Did you get walmpom for pay or did they give you land from the white man ? I'm glad for you Izzy " the great Fire God ! what tribe do you belong to "The Fagawee Tribe ?
