McDonald's Haz-Mat caused by Co2

3 posts in this topic

Check out these links in reference to a CO2 leak at several McDonald's restaurants 1 resulted in a close call for Phoenix firefighters and another one about a month or so later resulted in a civilian fatality. Kudos to the Phoenix FD for being proactive in getting this information out to the rest of us. This was ery eye opening.

These liquid carbon dioxide systems are becoming more popular, since the tank can hold more liquid carbon dioxide, and last longer between refills than a system using carbon dioxide in a gaseous form. Almost any place with a soda dispenser, restaurants, fast food places, even mini-marts in gas stations can have them, not just McDonalds as shown in these videos. The tank is filled from outside the building, and should have a vent to the outside of the building as well. Some stores that do not have a basement may store the system in a back room, or inside the walk in coolers, behind the bottled soda/water/beer/etc.
