Long Island Man arrested for Tamarack Fire

ELLENVILLE, N.Y.– A Nassau County man was arrested Monday and charged with starting the fire that burned down the old Tamarack property in Greenfield Park.

Lance G. Muckenhaupt, 56, of 119 Windsor Gate Drive, New Hyde Park, was charged with two felony counts of arson and other charges in connection with the fire that destroyed or damaged more than 30 buildings and more than 50 acres of woodland, according to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

Also the times herald record reported that this guy is was looking to purchase the old Tamarack Lodge property.

If you could tally up the amount of equipment, manpower hours and everything else that was used on that fire, it would be a staggering number of dollars. That was a heck of a event for all the depts involved, and it was a TON of them.
