AAOS Emergency 8th Edition

5 posts in this topic

To put it bluntly, I found that this book SUCKS!

I am trying to study for my recert, and a large portion of the items I was given to study weren't in this book. The information I was looking for and was fortunate enough to find was all over the place. I remember the Brady books I used to have, seemed like everything was in one place and simple to find.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

The book is also based on the National Registry Standard, so the most effective way to study for a recert is to brush up on your state-specific standards and then use the AAOS book for the common stuff like splinting, etc.

New York State uses National Registry, sheets for testing skill stations, also the tests are now from a Company in Nevada I think they started in Jan.

But are there NY State-specific guidelines? NJ teaches National Standard, also, but has a state-specific guideline that Nitro is not to be administered if the BP is under 120; National Standard says 100.
