I thought it was permanent, didn't realize it was for the 4th of July. I think it should stay year round as well. It looks nice, adds some color to the gray.

Absolutely not too flashy. In fact if you get really crazy (and I know you are) you could do like google and change the backgrounds with each holiday, but the flag is perfect for year round use. It's all American, just like this board. 8)
