Time: 0621 hours

Location: 1063 Hope Street, Cross Street Camp Avenue

Frequency: 154.13 mHz (Dispatch), 800 mHz (Operations)

Units Operating: Stamford Fire Rescue HazMat Taskforce (E2, T2, R1, R2, HM1, Unit 19 [HazMat Command Unit]) E5, E6, E7, DC2, DC4; Springdale Fire Company E52, Unit 54; Stamford EMS Unit #91 (Rehab Unit), M901 (Supervisor), M-2; Stamford PD; State of Connecticut DEP.

Description Of Incident: Ammonia Leak at Stamford Twin Rinks in the Springdale section of the city. Rink employees were alerted by a fixed ammonia metering system. Building was evacuated. Scene secured by first arriving E-7. HazMat incident (signal 19) transmitted. HazMat Task Force plus second alarm assignment dispatched. DC2 established command post on side A. Approximately four city blocks were evacuated by SPD units. Technical decon established on side A and entry made in Level A PPE. Members metered and determined high level of ammonia in atmosphere. Entry team secured leak and area was vented into fog streams and diluted. Scene was turned over to CT-DEP for final cleanup. Members rehabbed by SEMS and medically cleared. Recall transmitted at 1056 hours with the final company closing the incident at 1213 hours.
