  1. This is not nearly as bad as when Cablevision kept eliminating channels from basic cable. On several different occasions 10+ channels were removed and replaced with a message basically telling people to move to Digital Cable or say goodbye to these channels. Once it reached the point that there were basically no channels we moved to Fios (and saved a ton of money in the process) and haven't looked back.
  2. My thoughts and prayers are with the fallen LEO's and their families as well as the Law Enforcement community in the greater Seattle area.
  3. And it still has the factory paint job?
  4. Quite true. In this case, the Caprice is sharing architecture with the Pontiac G8, Chevy Camaro, and various Holden/Vauxhall products from overseas. The Impala shares architecture with the Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, and the Buick LaCrosse through the 2009 model year.
  5. It may look the same, but it's a completely different architecture underneath.
  6. The car is actually a carbon copy of the Holden Commodore and Chevy Caprice (sold in Middle East and Asia IIRC). The car will be built on the line already producing these models. There is very little cost associated with developing and producing this car (i.e. very nice profit). As for the Pontiac G8, the reason why it's no longer being produced is much more complex than it being a tired old POS. GM needed to become leaner and one of the ways to do that was to eliminate brands. Pontiac was among the slower-selling and more redundant brands (the reasons behind which require a whole other conversation) and thus the decision was made to eliminate it. The G8 was in fact well received by the automotive press and had a lot of potential. It couldn't, however, justify keeping Pontiac alive.
  7. Looks like the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office got a few first: http://www.moderncamaro.com/forum/showthread.php?p=191318
  8. I can't seem to find a picture of the real one. It looks like the Caprice will be bigger than Crown Vic and with 100 more horsepower: http://jalopnik.com/5373645/exclusive-the-...ice-car-is-back
  9. To add on to what FFFORD said, the dealership may be invoking the part of the warranty contract that states the warranty will be voided if the vehicle is used in emergency purposes or if modified in a certain way. This typically wouldn't apply to a vehicle equipped with a police/special services prep package (depending on the manufacturer). This could also apply to work done by anyone other than the Original Equipment Manufacturer. Was the vehicle repainted by the up-fitter? If not (and assuming the vehicle is equipped with the appropriate prep package), this is a case of the dealer using the aforementioned points in the warranty to skirt their responsibilities, which is something that should be addressed either with upper level dealer management or Ford Fleet Customer Service.
  10. My thoughts and prayers are with Firefighter Joyce's family and the Yonkers Fire Department. May he rest in peace.
  11. Note that they had 18 firefighters+an Assistant Chief and one would assume a Chief as well). So you have a staff of 20 firefighters (albeit not at the same time) covering a town of 174. This seem odd to anyone else?
  12. To all who served on that terrible day and those that followed, Thank you.
  13. Based on what I've heard on other forums, these units are popular in limited access situations such as mines, etc., where a normal ambulance couldn't necessarily reach. Presumably the slide in would transport the patient from the incident site to a waiting standard ambulance.
  14. GM still offers the Impala: http://www.gmfleet.com/pdf/2010_Impala_Police.pdf Rumor has it the Camaro is coming as well. I would be curious as to whether doing such an upfit on a vehicle for which it was not intended would void the manufacturer's warranty. Maybe Warnock is agreeing to honor any warranty claims that Ford won't.
  15. This after his family came out saying he was "not a monster." RIP to the Officers killed
  16. There were also Secret Service ambulances present that look something like this: http://flickr.com/photos/av8pix/2574510769/ I don't know who transported him, though. Best of luck to President Obama and the new administration as well as this great nation-we certainly need it.
  17. It looks like Bush has decided to commute the sentences of Agents Ramos and Compean. While not a full pardon, at least they will be going home to their families soon. http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/20...h-pardons_N.htm
  18. It looks like Stryker has it as an add-on to their chairs: http://www.stryker.com/en-us/products/Pati...ories/index.htm
  19. Looks to be the Mamaroneck Town Yard. It has been there for a while. It looks like all the photos of the Crown Vics and Luminas were taken there as well.
