  1. Just goes to remind us that there is no such thing as a "routine" call. Complacency kills, stay on top of the game. Kudos to all involved. All responders went home at the end of the day/night.
  2. http://www.cracked.com/article_19798_5-terrifying-secrets-about-riding-in-ambulance.html An interesting read.
  3. I am sure we will be hearing from "The Reverend" Al and his buddy JJ..... http://www.zombielandrules.com/ Rule #2
  4. At approx 2220hrs on 5/14/12, NYSP and DCSO responded to a reported Burglary In Progress/Home Invasion. One of the initial arriving NYSP entered the residence, encountered one suspect with a sawed off rifle who assaulted the Trooper WITH the rifle. Suspect became human Swiss Cheese and pronounced dead on the scene. Four other suspects caught after a manhunt, arrested, and arraigned. Good riddance, God bless the responding officers, glad they are all ok. I am proud to work and know many of the members of those agencies that responded. http://www.poughkeep...psieJournal.com http://hudsonvalley.ynn.com/content/top_stories/584299/trooper-fatally-shoots-armed-person-while-responding-to-burglary-in-progress/
  5. I think this topic has run its course. Some good points came out, some people are idiots, but I don't have to say who, I think they did a pretty good job of doing that themselves. Thank you to all who contributed positively here, it was a good inter-agency operation, and as others have said, "one hand washing the other." This thread is now closed.
  6. Lol, I think there is enough liability coverage with being a LEO to begin with! Being at a scene of a fire incurs its own liability, as it is inherently dangerous as is. I am SURE if something went down and one of them got injured, liability would maybe give slight problem, but I am SURE it would not be a big one.
  7. Unfortunately, the mindset out there is that "more is better".
  8. Topic already being discussed: http://www.emtbravo....ystem-failures/ Your post will be merged. Please look for an existing thread before posting a new one.
  9. The main problem with these is that they do not get used on a REGULAR BASIS by most departments. Rigs get parked and the TA's left on random/flash pattern, and the MAIN problem, is the half dozen OTHER warning lights surrounding the TA. Well of course, its impossible to discern a pattern/directional with 6 other LEDs/strobes flashing around it. It is overwhelming to the human eye. For proper use, other warning around them must be turned OFF, and allow them to do their function!! I am a believer in their PROPER use. Very true. Look at what a lot of these agency types use. Maybe one warning beacon up front, and JUST a Traffic Advisor to the rear. SIMPLICITY!!!!
  10. No matter what anyone says, the IC made a COMMAND DECISION, and utilized whatever resources he had available at the time. What would be the difference between setting up a master stream and leaving it flowing unattended, versus putting those fine gentlemen in charge of a hoseline (aside from the fact that a master stream shouldn't be left unattended)? I applaud the IC recognizing that help was needed and seeking the assistance, and even more, thumbs up to the Purple Ties for rising to the task. They very easily could have said "not my job" and gone and secured a perimeter/the scene (not a knock on LEO's). I have been on many scenes that the PD assisted with fire operations, none were ever freelancing, and everyone forgets.... WE ARE ALL OUT THERE FOR ONE PURPOSE!!! TO PROTECT AND SERVE THE PUBLIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So long as that gets done, in a controlled manner, and everyone goes home safe, everyone should take a chill pill, and re-focus and worry about the problems they/their own department has, before throwing out s*** about what others do. [/rant]
  11. I don't know the exact timeframe, but there was already and ALS unit enroute to standby at the scene, that had been requested by the IC.
  12. One-line, non-contributory and inflammatory posts removed, as well as the inappropriate postings by some members. Any further such postings will result in your posting privileges revoked, or your banning. You do not like something someone says, say it in a constructive manner, or take it to PM and say whatever you want, but not in our open threads.

  19. :o Any pre-purchase pictures? I look forward to yet another addition to the CAD....
  20. Ok guys, I think any other posts EXCLUDING discussion of the Vehicle Fire itself should come into a new thread discussing legalities of taking property into custody for evidentiary purposes. All other discussion not related to the actual video, the vehicle fire, or anything as such, will be deleted.
  21. It is ok. Also, the thread was not specifically about Wind Turbine fires. Look at the name of the Topic Title. High Angle Firefighting. It is a generic topic.
  22. I was referring more to the fact "Why don't they call the Fire Department?" and some more of the asinine comments that got made. I am not referring to anything aimed at any FD, just that the average civilian is, well, stupid. Where has common sense with society in general gone? Story for another day...
  23. I always love the commentary from lay-people/civilians... Everyone is always a critic, and has some 'genius' thing to put out there.
  24. I merged some new posts/thread with this existing thread, as they are along the same lines.
