  1. Miss his smile! We will ALWAYS remember you, Mike. What a wonderful man!!!!! I'm sure he is looking down on his children with great pride
  2. Very suprised others haven't put this up yet ..... The East Fishkill Fire District Humanitarian Committee's 4th annual Chili and Chowder Cook-off is this Saturday from noon to 5pm @ EFFD fire headquarters Route 52 in Hopewell Jct. As always, I'm sure Lisa and her crew will do a teriffic job with great food and fun to be had by all. It's only $5 to sample all the entries and have a relaxing afternoon with some friends. This years proceeds will benefit the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation Medical Gap Fund for breast cancer patients in the in the Hudson Valley. For more information, or to register a team (It's not too late!!!) follow this link to the EFFD upcoming events page: http://www.eastfishkillfiredistrict.org/Upcoming_Events.htm
  3. Congratulations and best of luck....he's a cutie!! ~Katy
  4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SETH!!
  5. Congrats!!! I'm due in October...hope my little one isn't that big!! Glad to hear everyone is doing good. Speaking from experience, being a "firehouse brat" is the best!! Your "family" is always there for you. Best of luck with everything. I did see bunker gear (more like a set of overalls but looked good) somewhere for the wee little ones. If I come across it again I will post the info for ya!
  6. I don't believe that this was to discourage the younger generation to post. I think it was to try to make them more aware of what some of them are posting. I have only been a FF/EMT for about 5-6 years now. Although I feel I have learned a great deal, there is still soo much to learn. I was once told by an older much more seasoned brother that you never stop learning, and when you feel that you know it all is when you will get yourself hurt or killed. There are some people, both young and old, that post on here and think they know everything about everything. I try to read just about everything on here so I can continue to learn. I think what was being expressed is that some in the younger generation (and I don't just mean age, I mean experience) that may not have as much knowledge as a more seasoned member are acting like they know it all. Maybe EVERYONE should take more time to read other's posts before shoving their own 2 cents in. We don't all know it all (although there are 2 or 3 of my "mentors" that I really think are close!!) and should use this forum to learn and for information in our fields. Sorry if I am out of place for posting this, but I have felt this way for a few months now. I just didn't want to be the first to say something!! As for the "older" more seasoned generation on this forum...THANK YOU for your knowledge and input. I myself have learned a few things here, and am happy that there are still some "good old boys" around to teach me a thing or two!!!
  7. I have some pretty good techniques....but that would mean giving up my old department's secrets!!! Anyone from East Fishkill care to let the secret out??? But terry cloths to dry and polish do work very well. Also, try something like lime away to get rid of the spots before polishing. That's all I can share...My lips are sealed
  8. It has approximately 10,000 miles on it. Supposively it is in "good" condition with little to no rust and runs.
  9. Not sure if I'm posting this in the right topic or not.... A friend of mine is interested in buying a 1951 Mack pumper from a state auction. Not quite sure how much it is worth, and he definitely doesn't want to bid too little...or too much!! Anyone know of where to find out it's value???
  10. Happy Birthday Nate!! Don't have too much fun without me...
  11. J-E-T-S! JETS! JETS! JETS! Sorry...I had to! And yes...I HATE the Patriots. So GO GIANTS!!!!!!!!
  12. If I remember correctly, when the crossings were closed, the members of the local department received a letter ("permission slip") to cross them when responding to calls. Although I'm sure we've all used them a time or two when we weren't supposed to (right xfirefighter464x?? )
  13. Well the day has finally arrived!!! Hope to see you all there
  14. The cook off is only a week away...it's not too late to sign up a team!!! Like chili, chowder or wings???? Only $5 to get in...all you can eat from noon to 5pm!!! Hope to see you all there!!!
  15. The annual cook off is coming up soon! Hope to see you all there!!!
