  1. wow, appears to be heavy fire in a unique type of structure. any description on type of structure/origin of fire/possible causes?

  4. correct about Shelton, but also not correct about shelton. i think its the way she used the term "firefighters." the Shelton FIRE department is full volunteer 24/7. i think she might have been referring to our EMS which is paid 6a-6p weekdays only, other than that it is all volunteer.

  6. thanks for posting Andrew. that was a fun day. I want to thank Chief Gheraty again for showing us around. I live next to his daughter at school and she set me up with him. he was very kind to us and i cannot thank him enough for taking time from his day to show us the facility. sorry andrew is just getting these photos up now! kidding andrew. i made the entanglement picture! thanks bud. but "the rock" really is an amazing facility, it was awesome to get to see all of it.

  9. although i do see a need for tow truck/flatbeds to have AMBER warning lights, they are getting out of hand. the other night i was driving to school and was basically blinded by a light show coming down the road, sure enough it was a flatbed. i do think they should have lights, but only when operating (hitching a car) in traffic. other than that they should not have them on unless their load presents a danger to other motorists, but then again, it shouldn't. i do think something needs to be done. not saying cops should start throwing tickets at them off the bat, but maybe a memo to all towing companies regarding proper use of their lights.

Date: 1/20/09 Time: 00:49 Location: 138 Maple Street Frequency: SPD, SFD, SEMS, OFD, Units Operating: Seymour and Oxford FD Weather Conditions: Clear Description Of Incident: Seymour FD toned out for possible structure fire. first arriving Seymour PD unit confirming fully involved basement fire blowing out windows. First arriving FD units reporting heavy smoke and fire conditions. Seymour Command requesting second alarm with Oxford FD for R.I.T. to the scence. fire is still on going at this time. 01:05 - issue getting water from hydrant 01:12 - interrior crews reporting fire extension to garage B side and D side of the house. requesting more water. 01:15 - garage spreading fast 01:16 - interior crews reporting no extension to 1st and 2nd floors, fire confined to garage and basement 01:18 - exterior crews reporting possible extension to C/D side 01:18 - command requesting roof be vented further 01:19 - crews reporting confirmed extension to C/D side (unable to hear weather interior or exterior, static on radio) 01:21 - fire in basement A/B side 01:23 - command requesting roof crews secure and come down from roof 01:24 - fire on A/B side contained, KD 01:26 - secondary search yields no victims, no fire 01:39 - i need to go on an EMS run, i will be away from the computer. will try to follow up. Date:1/13/10 Time: unknown Location: oxford CT airport, christian RD Frequency: OFD Units Operating: many Weather Conditions: clear, cold Description Of Incident: I just learned of this today so i do not know much. One plane inbound to Oxford airport crashed into power lines and close to power station. pilot succumb to injuries. youtube video Reporters: Writer:

Date:12/30/09 Time: approx 13:30 Location: ?? wells ave Frequency: 33.88 Units Operating: SPD, EVAC, SFD companies 1,3,4,5 Weather Conditions: clear Description Of Incident: Dispatch reports working structure fire wells ave with reports of windows blowing out per officers on scene. original assignment was for companies 1,4, and 5. company 3 added for their ladder truck as tower 7 did not make the road. Car 1 was command reporting working fire. engine 32 to relocate and standby at company 1. primary search teams reporting one k-9 found inside and is signal 12 (DOA). secondary search found no victims. fire was kd in approximately 10 minutes of first engine arrival. overhaul turned up hot spots in the basement, interior crews searching for extension. no FF injuries, one dog victim. scene turned over to fire marshal's and is being investigated. Date: 12/21/09 Time: approx 11:00 Location: 53 Geisler Ave Frequency: 33.86(SFD), SPD, SEMS Units Operating: SPD, Fire Police, E32, L33, E2, E42, Squad 5, 2v30, 1v21, FM1, Car1, Car 6 Weather Conditions: Clear Description Of Incident: Working structure fire in a 2 1/2 story wood frame PD. upon arrival smoke from B side of the structure. had a problem with the first hydrant and had to switch to a further plug. 3 hand lines went to work. house was evacuated. Fire appears to have started in the kitchen and spread. most damage was to B/C side kitchen, 2nd floor, and attic. one FF injured and transported by EMS to hospital. main body of fire was k/d pretty fast but had lots of hot spots with some rekindle. approx 12:00 it was placed under control. pictures to come.
