One more, and these are not part of my collection, but I sure wish they were!
This past sprng we were cleaning out the garage where our 1927 Seagrave parks and I found these 3 piled up in a corner! I about pooped myself! LOL
These are now on display in the firehouse, behind glass. I am eventually going to either order or make front devices for them.

At a recent parade, I sat directly opposite a NYSP Trooper on a traffic post.
EACH and EVERY time, the stars and stripes passed by, he saluted with the most crisp salute I have ever seen. Many of the bystanders commented on it as well...all were impressed by his actions.
    Well Done Trooper, remain safe.

Mark, I truly saw all the hard work and dedication that you and signman put into this truck. Its a shame that it did not pass. We will just have to keep our fingers crossed because it will be a different outcome if it comes to a re-vote. Trust me!

It was a nice evening and the weather was perfect after the heavy rain we had enroute to the training center. The sky was awesome. Again thanks Bill for allowing us out to help out and for me to take some shots. Spanky Dean you make us proud, even if they call you smurf at class.

Bill, click the link below, it's the program that is provided here on BRAVO to reduce the size of the pics so they don't take up some much storage space, part of the program allows the user options of different effects, the program is Irfan View, hope this helps and thanks for the kind words, still trying to figure out the new camera, making strides, umm maybe baby steps is more like it.

Agreed that we should always make the best effort to design a rig that has our safety in mind. BUT, sometimes a rig has to do more than lug hose and water around, hence the taller hosebed.
When we got our most recent Engine, the hosebed was viewed as "high" by many. While I agree that it's higher than we would have preferred, equipment we use more often than that hose is stored below the hosebed, making it easier for us to get to.
For us, and I know others are different and some are similar, we drop hose off the bed maybe 10-12 times per year, but the equipment stored below the hosebed is pulled 2-3 times more than the hose in our hosebed. "Cheater" lengths of 5" are stored in close proximity to the pump panel on all 3 Engines so the MPO rarely has to go out of his way to ring a hydrant.
Those of you blessed with hydrants everywhere can afford to have 500 gallon tanks and lower hosebeds. We lack that luxury in many portions of our district, so our Engines have 750 gallons and two have 1000 gallons of water.
I like the new E199 from Bedford Hills - it's a multi-purpose apparatus hence the hosebed is a bit higher than that of New Rochelle's E21 which is an Engine only. Correct me if I am wrong, but E25 had a higher hose bed to facilitate storage of more equipment, right? Either way, they're all well designed rigs.

The professional teamwork by YPD ESU, YFD RES1, SQ11, TL75, B2, Empress EMS and NYSP freed seriously injured victim whose arm was caught between steering wheel and tree. Vehicle was hanging around tree and had to be stabilized before any extrication could be performed. Members were concerned that any removal or re-alignment of vehicle would cause it to fall back down embankment.

I dont know the specifics for this fire so I am clearly not speaking for these guys, but in my experience up here by me, driving into farms, fields, or logging roads is sometimes the ONLY way to get to the fire. I have driven in a fire engine into field and forest many times to extinguish brush fires that could easily have turned worse without water. We dont have choppers (aerial tankers?) so we have to drive it or walk it in.
SOme of our departments have 4wd engines, and some dont. We have brush trucks, but they only carry 250-300 gallons of water. If we can get the 1000 gallon engine close enough to use it as a fill station for the brush units than we do it, its an effective tactic, otherwise we have to drive the brush units long distance to a pond, creek, or other water source to refill. Having the engine, or even a tanker with a pump, close to the scene helps out in the long run.
Besides...every brush fire has the capability to turn into a major fire, threatening homes, businesses and lives, so the earlier you jump on it the better. Just saying that could be the reason they drove the rig into the field.
    Hope that helps. Stay safe.

Due a washout affecting Metro North's Danbury Branch, near the Bethel Station. Approximately 125 feet of track was left suspended 20 feet in the air. Here is a link to some photos of the damage My link: http://www.goacre.com/Danbury_Washout.htm . As a result, Metro North had 5 locomotives and 25 coaches stranded in Danbury. Metro North decided to rescue the equipment by making a rare move across the Beacon Line to Brewster, NY The line also known as the Maybrook is owned by the Housatonic RR up to the NYS Border, where Metro North has ownership. This line runs parallel to Route 6, and then through Brewster, where a connection to the Harlem Line exists north of the Southeast Station. I was able to catch the movement of the final 3 locomotives and 13 coaches on Wednesday March9, 2011. Due to lack of maintenance, signals, and road crossing protection, the move was made a 10 mph. Here are the photos

We have had a similar unit in operation for quite a few years. However ours acts strictly as a water main and does not carry any equipment or tools. It's sole purpose is to get as close to the scene a possible, drop the 5" and run to the bay to draft.

This appears to be an excellent, well thought out and designed rig, I especially like the front mounted pump. It is so easy to use. And, the layout for equipment appears to take advantage of every inch of space. Well done to the truck committee.
