  1. I think it should definitely be against, the law. But also should be common sense, but apparently no one has any anymore. Also, be smart and don't check your text messages while driving either.
  2. Ahh, ok...couldn't tell...thanks bro
  3. I have a picture, which I enlarged and presented to the LT. of the Ladder company before their Wet-down that shows the two ladders (if the one in the rear is the wooden aerial) with their sticks up and a flag hanging between, I will try to get it onto the computer next time I'm home
  4. The last day of Friday classes for this semester?
  5. Got the new Metallica Album this morning, and I must say it is everything that St. Anger wasn't. As a long standing Metallica fan, I am very excited by the album..
  6. Personally, as a drummer, the biggest draw back to St. Anger besides the lack of solos was the filter they used on the drums/ lack of any snare sound...but I digress..I have already learned a few of the new songs on Guitar, and a lot of the new stuff is a lot more technical than it used to be
  7. I happened to be channel surfing and came across the telethon at the moment the IAFF was presenting their donation. This is a cause that is close to my heart as I had a cousin die of Muscular Dystrophy a few years ago. Does anyone know how long the IAFF has been donating to the charity, and are any of the local unions involved?
  8. The legend goes that there is a house that is occupied solely by albinos. Also there is the Buckhout gravestone, which tradition says you must kiss. To be honest, its really not as scary as it used to be since they put in the subdivisions.
  9. The East and central Alabama region got hit hard by TS Fay last night. While it did not bring the same force as it did in Florida, there were major issues due to the high winds and heavy rain. In the Auburn area alone there were 6 tornado warnings (visible rotation in the clouds by the weather service) between 6pm CDT and 2am CDT; along with lake wind advisories, urban and small stream flood watches and flash flood warnings. There were major power outages, with wires down all over the place. There were also many incidents involving falling trees that had been weakened by the long drought. The biggest in the Auburn area being a tree into a church. The power company was behind at least 3 to 4 hours at 10pm, and still had trucks in some places around 1pm on Sunday. As of this time there is still a tornado watch for another three hours, as well as flash flood warnings until Tuesday.
  10. The weather let up for most of Sunday, but is right back today. The storm seems to have re-centered, and is continuing to rotate moving north through Alabama. As of right now, there is a tornado watch until 3pm, and there was already one tornado warning this morning at 9:40. Classes at Auburn University have been suspended for Monday starting at 11am.
  11. 28, some good tricky questions on there
  12. I was wondering if anyone had info on the incident at Costco earlier today. I heard the initial call over my scanner and heard them call for the Health Dept., I was just wondering what happened.
  13. They don't call upstairs anymore, because the hot line can be heard upstairs, and we don't dispatch ourselves anymore, so we all get the page at the same time. So it kind of eliminated the need for the call upstairs. (but thats not really on topic)
  14. If only that would be an applicable situation. Besides the fact that the volunteer turnout is too low now, and therefore trying to get an engine and a ladder staffed would be a hard task. We simply do not have the drivers. It is department policy that all drivers must have EVOC and have adequate in department training on the apparatus they plan to drive. With that being the case we only have a handful of drivers; from there it could take a long time to get enough people trained on the correct apparatus (if we had a higher turnout) to be able to always take out the other two pieces of front-line.
  15. Generally depends on the time of day/ day of the week/ type of alarm. The turnout recently has slightly improved, but its still nowhere near where it would need to be to justify not hiring more guys.
  16. One of the problems that also wasn't mentioned (problem as I see it) is that with the minimum of the 3 man crew, it leaves only 1 man at station two, which could be an unsafe situation. If there were to be an accident, there is the possibility that it could go unnoticed until the shift change the next morning (worst case scenario with no alarms that day, people at the station, or communication between station 1 and two). This could be solved by the addition of more people.
  17. That happened down here in AL a couple years back, but the railroad learned their lesson; because with the way things work, we were able to charge them for our services.
  18. It is the explorer day when I fell in love with being on the nozzle... undefeated at the hose tether ball event, thank you! Was definitely a great experience that is essential to furthering the skills of any explorer.
  19. This may be a stupid question, but whats the PUC stand for?

  21. What do you guys think. Seeing as the rising price of fuel is being shown to have an effect on the length and distance of peoples boat trips this summer; do you think that more people staying closer to home will result in more boat related calls in the LOHUD region? Been on my mind, will be interesting to see what actually happens, and what everyone else thinks. P.S. this might be the wrong forum, I have no idea
  22. Thats what I had figured, so do you think that this circumstance will lead to more calls that are boat related?
  23. Ahh, see I figured people would just take shorter trips, thats what I had heard from some people who had boats, but I'm back at school for the next five weeks, so I haven't been around to see
  24. As it said, the actual pacemaker was donated, and I would assume that the device constitutes most of the cost in a surgery like that.
  25. So what's our time frame on getting the pics?
