  5. Fishkill PD??? Seems the PD in this area recently are being taxed as much as the FDs with large incidents. Lost of m/a recently. What is this area turning into??

One good thing with PD in the City is you have the DCSO, City PD and MTAPD that all can respond to an emergency. MTA Police have really stepped up lately and have helped towns out when things get busy. I'm hearing them more and more on DC Police Channel 1. They're an asset that I think many police agencies have forgot about. They can respond anywhere in the county if needed, their Jurisdiction is Manhattan County, Suffolk County, Nassau, Queens, Brooklyn, Richmond, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Ulster, Rockland and Orange counties. In Connecticut, Fairfield & New Haven Counties.

  6. In addition to it being a large scale incident, County tries as best as they can to "spread the love" so to speak and pull equipment and manpower from a wider area to avoid stripping any one area of trucks and people, and they have become quite good at it. it may appear that they are skipping over one and picking the next, but the real reason is stated above.

Exactly, take Millbrook for example, with their equipment tied up at their brush fire, and MA to LaGrange if they had a structure fire during the call, they would have been SOL. But you see, they didnt take all of Union Vales equipment, when its closest, but they pulled from East Clinton, Beekman, East Fishkill, Pawling etc.

I can say this is the first time ive heard 45 go M/A to 47

  13. Have an app in at TransCare and a couple of friends that work there. Word I got from Alamo is they are accepting applications but holding them for now. Went to HV in January and while they took the app, was told nothing for at least 8 wks. NDP too far any way.

Couple of prospects for some per diem with a couple of the VACs with paid staff on this side.

I wouldn't of wasted my time with HV, but in terms of Alamo, they're hiring tons of people for their dutchess expansion, so if you haven't applied yet, that looks promising.

  14. This is typical FOX NEWS that people love so much. Scare tatics, fiddling with video clips to make them appear more dramatic, etc. It's cheap, tabloid style television reporting.

However, we all must remember with cell phone cameras so prevalent, we're always going to be put on the spot forerver on, no matter what.

I find smoking in an emergency vehicle, especially with a Type III ambulance, is not fair to the patient. A lot of patients are sensitive to tobacco odor, and it can irritate some with already sensitive lungs. And it's not professional to have someone, presumably in a marked emergency vehicle in some type of uniform, smoking. I'm not judging people who do, but it's proven to be a deadly habit. That's why many health care organizations, fire departments, EMS agencies, etc, have banned tobacco use completly from their campuses altogether. If you're caught smoking at an EMS agency down here in any situation in anyplace, that's it, you're done.

I think, however, that the subject handled the reporter extremly professionally and honestly.

And, let's all remember, WNYW-Channel 5 FOX NEWS aired this clip to thousands of people- and we're just discussing it here. I'm sure it's going to get picked up on other forums and outlets, such as conversations, as well.

I have to agree here with x635 in regards to the Fox News channel. That's how the whole network is run, Republican news channel, I mean, Fox News channel always used these tactics to skew situations unfairly. They realize they're falling behind in the ratings, I believe WNBC-TV was ahead again, and especially with the launch of their re-branding NBC New York Locals Only, and their new sub channel New York Non Stop. Fox is just falling behind.

In regards to them going to confront the ambulance driver, that was totally unfair. The reporter had her own agenda and that was to defame his character, after something like that, i don't know if i'd want to continue doing that. I realize he shouldn't of been smoking in the ambulance, but the whole situation could have been handled with alot more respect for the ambulance crew.
