  1. Beaufort County is an extremely busy county located in the southern tip of South Carolina. Beaufort County EMS is the sole provider of EMS throughout the county and has equipment based out of twelve stations throghout the county. Beaufort County is home to several well-known attractions such as Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Hilton Head Island and only 45 minutes from Savannah, GA. The county is home to 65,000 Active Duty Military personnel and is home to the Beaufort Naval Hospital which serves eligible constituents in the area. This is a very busy system with potential for growth and advancement alongside extreme diversity of call types. 2. I live in Beaufort County, town of Port Royal. Some things are cheaper others aren't. Apartments here start from $500 and maxed out luxury apartments can be closer to $1000. That aside; Beaufort County lacks a full roster of EMS professionals working for them so the employees they do have it's not uncommon for up to two (2) overtime shifts per week. Some stations don't even do a call a day- easy money. That adds up to paychecks for most EMT's per period around 1200 Post Tax. EMT's and Paramedics aren't a dime a dozen (for lack of a better term) as I feel they are in New York. That's why most agencies in South Carolina have a hard time operating at full staffing levels.
  3. Coming from someone who used to live in the Hudson Valley and worked commercial i understand how that doesn't sound very appetizing. However what most people forget is the cost of living is substantially cheaper (my luxury 2bed 2 bath apartment w/ a fireplace and a screened in porch) is $700 a month. Gas is $2.87. It's a wash. But it's a tough concept to grasp for most people in the Hudson Valley. Construction is booming in the area here and jobs are plentiful.

  7. Source please?
  8. 911 doesn't even bother with dispatching Empire/Regional/Hudson Valley Paramedics/Care One on the off hours because they know they dont post a truck in the valley during those times. I quote a manager from HVP "they get what they pay for". MLSS picks up all the slack nine times out of ten
  9. Allowing Active members a discounted gas rate could work, if done correctly. Sure, it would be a great retention tool!
  10. A congrats for Empress for the win. Unfortunate for TransCare, but a great deal for Empress!
  11. That's because PVFD doesn't pay for ALS after I believe 1800hrs, so Mobile Life jumps in for some fun, because Care1 doesnt keep a truck in that part of the county overnight.
  12. Probably whatever name they're going by this week lol
  13. Congrats to a happy and healthy baby!
  14. Great Pictures K! What a rare move, it's great you followed them!
  15. I too saw the truck in person at the show, very nice! Surprised with how much compartment space it had, thought the slots for the locks on the doors were funny

  19. AMR does not have a CON for Dutchess County or Columbia, they do however have Rensaleer County. AMR has no presence currently in Hudson Valley, although they are very big around metro centers, New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, Long Island and are a very large company. That being said, the only way IN they have is to purchase a company and obtain their CON. HVREMSCO isn't giving out regional CON's, only municipal (ex. Beacon). It would certainly be interesting!! We'll have too see what the coming months bring!
  20. No, the region is not issuing any more CON's. AMR does not have a CON for Dutchess, most likely they were transports to / from Albany MED, or into New York City. It'll be all over for Dutchess anyway in the coming year without AMR.
  21. Fantastic, Congratulations Paramedic Bedell!
  22. Seth, I appreciate your hard work and dedication over the last 7 years. It's definitely been fun and I have enjoyed engaging in conversations with others on hot topics, or sometimes just about a new piece of apparatus. Seth, best of luck with your new baby, I wish it great health and prosperity. I also hope your health and overall situation improves. ~CityStation
  23. I'm not sure about LaGrange, but Union Vale doesnt have a tanker, this will be their first.
