  1. Facebook is ok. Maybe it's the monday morning quarterbacking that needs to end. (ya i know that will never happen) People air there issue out and comment on how THEY would have done it. But THEY were most likely in bed or at home watching TV at the time. If you were not there you don't know what happened. And "I talked to a guy who was there.." is not gonna help you either. I do agree that more forums, including this one, have slipped from what they should be. There is a lot of guys flapping there gums and not enough exchanging useful information. The Incident Updates have become the most useful info on here. As a parting though remember that a lot of the facebook issue comes from these kids who shoot their mouths off about stuff and post info online. They are whats killing us on facebook. Most of the guys in my firehouse don't even have facebook accounts and a few don't even own computers.

  2. I don't care if you're the President of a University, a football player, a nuclear physicist, or a nun; you use your vehicle as a weapon and try to run down a police officer, a firefighters, or an emt, you should be stopped by any means necessary, including deadly force before you kill somebody. Too bad this football player didn't understand that driving with a cop on the hood of your car is reason enough to be stopped with deadly force.

I think the story is that even thought your a star football player and maybe in school alot of stuff slides like getting people to take your tests and maybe being given extra time for things, your not above the law and your going to be shot if you try to kill a cop with your car. Didn't this kid hear what happened down in the Bronx with the guy who was fighting with the cop? Ya you attack a cop and you will get a beating or shot.

  3. According to thier county a few of the depts. charge $500 if you are not a subscriber and they come out to your emergency, but at least 50% of those people refuse to pay the bill and the FD does not have any legal means of collecting.

Could they apply it to the house's taxes? I would think that if the residents agree to the $500 payment then the County could apply it somehow. I know the fire service is not going to be collecting fee's but who do the home owners make these checks out too?

  4. Ok here is my feelings for this area's problem. Charge the $75 for protection of homes and what not. If you choose not to pay then you will be billed accordingly for the response you receive. Bill them for overtime and fuel usage as well as a $75 fee for the protection. Then the family gets the protection for the remainder of the year and then they will pony up the measly $75 from then on. Once one person has to pay the full price then others will not want to pay and will get the coverage.

Also who is just gonna let a building burn solely because someone is not a list? We are here to protect and save lives. If someone were to be in trapped inside, would they say sorry you have no coverage? If so I guess all those fees that were collected would go right out the window with the lawsuit that would be filed.

  5. Ya perps get off with a slap on the wrist these days. A kid damn near kills a cop and it's well we reached a deal and he will just do 7 years maybe 3-5 with good behavior. But if someone is caught with drugs it's "lets send him away for 20 years". The kid was a disaster and going to jail will only make him worse. As stated the prison's job is to reform these guys into worse criminals. Very few ever come out "better" people.

  6. Well from what I read, this is sort of a pointless law. It is saying that apparatus and chiefs can now you a blue light on the backs of there vehicles. Not sure how this is a good thing since really any flashing light will do the job. I think that if you don't see that rig with the current red and white pattern then adding a blue is not gonna change anything. Proper rig placement on the road is what saves lives, not a blue light. Plus who wants a blue light anyway?

  7. Right... OK so why are you not volunteering in your town? Maybe you should move if you want to volunteer in one of these communities. It is also a pointless rant and really people have bigger issues on this site then some kid who cant get in a volly department. Make the step up to the paid department.

  8. I was surprised that you all still bring this up every year. It's the same thing. "Hey look at these knuckleheads on top of the rig" Or "look there are 27 people on the ladder truck". We all know that it is wrong. This is not anything new. I also like the idea of a safety officer out in the staging area who can pick out the Disqualifications before hand. Then at the end right before the awards you read the DQ roll call and let everyone know that they failed to heed the safety rules. No trophy, no awards just good old fashion ridicule. Is this going a little too far, ya clearly, but you all know it would be a great idea.

Also I was surprised to see that the guys were not tan and covered in Hawaiian Tropic and glitter. I know they love that stuff down on the Jersey shore :D

But really stay off the roof guys and stay safe.

  9. What is this guy appealing? There is no mention of any lawsuit. I mean these people are clearly nuts and not real baptists. It's sad that they are aloud to walk this planet and spew their hate speech. Would love to see the protests when one of thier own dies. HAHAHA just stand out front and have banners and remind them that their Loved one is going to hell for not loving his fellow man. Sucks they are trying to make this guy pay for nothing.

  10. Also, if these are the boxes I'm thinking of, with the two buttons, one for FD and one for PD, how many police calls does the city get from these boxes?

I'm thinking they might get a fair share but they are most likely legitimate calls. Just put yourself in the shoes of the pranksters who would pull the box. Which would you rather see a fire truck or a police cruiser? Simple answer, the fire truck. In the more shady neighborhoods there is no way they are gonna want cops coming through with all there "profiling" and harassing. Most of the time i am sure it is just some kids being kids and doing dumb stuff. If someone has the stats that would be nice to see.

  11. First they hire convicts, now they just pick a guy to run the Dept. because he took a class? Don't think they offer a class on how to run a department at the county or anywhere for that matter. They might have something for company officers. Just another example of why politics is all just a joke. Maybe the new chief can have them fix all the fire houses and buy some rig so they have spares.
