  1. This is a good resource. I have it on my laptop and there is also a blackberry app for it.
  2. Good advice! When you cheap out you end up spending more in the long run. Pay the money once and be done with it. Whelens and strobe n more are great. both have good products and better warrentys.
  3. A line officer should absolutely be an EMT. I do know of one vac in putnam that allows a person to be 3rd LT without being an emt but their job is ambulance maint. My view: How can one tell others how to do their job without "knowing" how to do the job themselves?
  4. I would like to say first to all of my fellow MFD members, good stop! next, you got lucky! It's not that often you get called to a structure fire and are only a mile away just clearing another job. Now to the conversation. There were many good questions and points made here however, 585 is right, we cant all judge because we werent there. Those who WERE THERE can help clarify some of the answers given on this thread. From what I was told today by a FF who was on the first in engine, they were greeted with a significant volume of fire in the attic. There was an interior attack made and exterrior efforts to check for extension and vent. As I said, this is the story I was told by a FF on 1st due. Again great stop guys and may we all have the same luck! p.s. Did anyone get any pics????
  5. Thank you for posting. Great shots! May he rest in peace and to ALL officers on emt bravo, Thank you for what you do! You dont hear it enough! Stay safe and may god bless you and keep you safe out there!
  6. Coming straight from a high ranking DEP police official, the test is basically the same but you have to specify what list you want to be on. Info on test sites and times can be found at www.nyc.gov/dcas. Good luck to anyone taking the test!
  7. RUB IT IN CAP!!!!
  8. nice shots and looks like a great cut by MKFD. It's great to see the fire scene photos coming back!!
  9. Great shots as always! I'm sure if the call went out a bit sooner it would have been a great save but hey, good job anyways EFFD, The important thing is no one was hurt.
  10. Well put cap!
  11. whalen is always the way to go but if you are looking to save some coin 911EP isn't bad...we have one on our MCI unit and it is pretty good.
  12. In most cases there is no need to transport an arrest. There is nothing that the hospital can do that the medic hasn't done. In most cases when you transport a code there is just a body in a bed at the ED...sorry folks but thats the ugly truth. If you are able to get some signs of life back then yes, light it up and go. And Chris, you also pointed out a sad reality, failure of management to properly train. I know atleast one agency that i have transported with that takes EVERYTHING to the ER hot. To all the future supervisors out there: The guy driving isn't the only one who will be on trial, even if your just a vollie!
  13. Not sure where exactly it is chris but that is what was explained to me by the FTO when I was working there.
  14. Command Security is actually not NYS DOH certified (at least they werent when i was there 6 months ago), however, security companies are allowed to use RL&S on the private property they patrol. I do however wish the best for those involved in the accident and yes...moral of the story: BE CAREFUL!
  15. Always a fun day! Count me in!
  16. I haven't heard yet ray and im pretty high on the list...hopefully soon!
  17. Contact Cortlandt hook and ladder (peekskill FD ladder 45) They ran vegas nights for many years. Phone number should be on their web site.

  21. Yeha...i checked out a site that firedude told me about...it shows the location of all the rigs in the area...this started as a patch swap mission but figured i should bring the camera along. where is the chappy sub station exactly? anyone who knows where the subs are can u please let me know? cant do much beach bumming due to rain so i guess i'll do some buff shots.
  22. I tink its a 2003??? its used as their rescue. Responds 1st due to MVAs and any special rescue. They are pricing a new rescue pumper right now that should be delivered by next summer.
