Looking To LED Lightbar Reccomendations

15 posts in this topic

What full size lightbar would you buy?

Looking to replace my old one

What is your budget? There are "economy bars", or, if you have the funds, you can go all out, and get one of the more upper line models.

Also, what will the application be? Will it be a single purpose, such as a POV, is it a chief's vehicle, or will it get used for multi-purposes, such as a POV, and a plow vehicle in the winter, where the ability to change colors/have multiple different colors be accessible?

I used to work in Whelen sales and service. I now sell another product, but I will say Whelen is the absolute best when it comes to strobe and/or LED warning light technology.

There are a lot of other brand names out there that have come a LONG way from where they started, and some, IMHO, rival Whelen with options and technology.

911EP

Axixtech

Sound Off Signal

Star SVP (made in NY)

Those are just a few examples.

I looked at their selection of warning lights, and they all appear to be knock-offs/no-name brands. Not ALWAYS a bad thing, but I have found through experience that you get what you pay for.

There area several dealer's I have dealt with in the past.

Visit http://elightbars.org/phpBB3/ , it is a lighting enthusiast forum. There are dealers, manufacturer representatives, retailers, installers, consumers, you name it... all members there. And, a lot of members there are VERY knowledgeable with the technical aspects of their products, you will NOT be disappointed.

Also, take a look at TOMAR, they make excellent LED lightbars.

As a part time vehicle upfitter, I would recommend the Federal Signal Legend. Nothing beats it.

As others mentioned, the Whelen Liberty, Liberty 2010 DUO, and Freedom are all great as are the Tomar Blade, Scorpion and the Sound Off ETL 5000 and the Pinnacle.

I personally wouldnt waste my money on Code 3 products, there are plenty of other lightbars that are more effective than their products and cost a lot less...

Whelen, Whelen and Whelen...Did I forget to mention Whelen? Remember you get what you pay for. ALL our apparatus and vehicles are Whelen Lighting. We have had very good luck with Whelen and the product line, in my opinion, is superior to every one else.

You could also try Code 3, they have some nice lighting features as well.
