  1. Is the FDMV still running 5 Engines and 3 Ladders or is there an Engine on Oak Streer that's been closed?
  2. Congrats to the SFRD! They really deserve a good, reliable rig. Hopefully that's what they're getting. I heard a lot of time and effort went into the final design so I hope everything works out for the dept. I believe, in addition to Engine's 9, 8, and 1, they will be looking to replace a Truck Co. with a new KME in the near future.
  3. Nice rig! Looks a little like Noroton Heights FD's Truck 20 from Darien, CT.
  4. I know M/A units were on Fire 18.
  5. They went out of business in 2012. http://www.code3.net/
  6. May they eternally rest in peace. A personal account of the tragedy by a member of FDNY Engine 24 from the W.N.Y.F. magazine: http://www.nyfd.com/history/23rd_street/box598.pdf NY Times Article: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/17/nyregion/17fire.html?_r=1&
  7. Thanks! I have about 25 rigs, including the FDNY ones, in a 3'x2' wall-mounted clear plastic display case with 5 rows to show off the rigs loose. The rest of the rigs I have in the newer square snap-in plastic display cases that some of the more recent models came with. I don't have any still in the old rounded plastic domes. Thanks Willy "D"!
  8. I have around 45 in my collection, including the Diamond Plate FDNY Engine 21. I also have the model of FDNY's 10 House. 9. Wasn't Ladder 14 originally in service at Ladder 12?Today I just drove by Station 3 and saw the Pierce back in service as L13.
  10. Also, Ladder 13 is now running w/Ladder 12's former ALF.

  13. This is already shaping up to be a real nightmare. I myself commute to school on the Metro North's New Haven line four days a week from the Bridgeport, CT area to New Rochelle, NY, round trip and this will really be throwing a giant wrench into the works for me. Additionally, one of the travel problems caused by this outage is the severe traffic on the highways. Today, I had to drive the round trip from my house in Fairfield County to New Rochelle and the traffic on the Merritt Pkwy.(CT Rte. 15) and I-95(CT Tpke.) was absolutely brutal, and it's supposed to only get worse tonight and into tomorrow. There seems to be no end in sight, at least for the coming weeks. CT Post Article: http://www.ctpost.com/news/article/Metro-North-disruption-could-last-weeks-ConEd-4841862.php

  15. I believe the volunteer division runs out of the former WPFD Station 5 on Robertson Ave. in the Battle Hill section of the city, and have a former '70's WPFD Maxim pumper, designated as county Engine 210 for parade purposes. I don't think they have any firefighting duties, but not 100% on that.

  18. In my opinion, to echo what everybody else has said, a Working Structure Fire should be classified as a room and contents fire or greater, where at least 1 1 3/4" line was charged and used.
  19. For the Greenwich photo, Ladder 10 was one of two Ladders at the Central Firehouse. "Central" was and still is GFD HQ. It houses the paid GFD and three volunteer fire companies: Amogerone Vol. Fire Co. 1, Vol. Hose & Chemical Co. 2, and the Fire Patrol. At the time, the GFD ran an Engine and Ladder, Vol. Hose & Chemical ran an Engine or two, and Amogerone ran a Ladder(and a Seagrave tiller at one time). I believe Ladder 10 was Amogerone's volunteer piece. Today, Central(prior to it's rehab. that is still ongoing), housed the paid GFD Engine 1, Tower 1, Special Ops. 1(Command Center), and the Deputy as well as Amogerone FD Squad 1, an air and light unit. Recently, Vol. Hose & Chemical purchased a small utility truck that they're using.
