  1. According to Wikipedia, Brooklyn does have more people than Houston. According to the articles, in 2009, Houston had a population of 2,257,926, and Brooklyn had a population of 2,567,098, so, unless those sources are incorrect(after all it is Wikipedia), if Brooklyn were a city, it would be the 4th largest city in the U.S.
  2. Awesome shots!!! I really like Ladder 68's new stick. Now I'm just guessing, but District 68 is numbered that way because it's at Station 68. I'm sure that there aren't 68 Districts in the HFD, right!?
  3. Thanks 61MACKBR1. Actually, I finally found the page on YFD's website and tracked down the address on Google and Bing Maps. Just for the record, the Shops/Repair Division of the YFD is at the DPW Yard at 1130 Nepperhan Ave. x Cross Hill Ave. I'm not sure if the S.O.C. Division is there as well though. I couldn't tell, but the YFD S.O.C. could be at Axminster & Nepperhan. I have to go down there one of these days and check it out.
  4. Where are the YFD Shops/S.O.C.? Is it at the city garage? I remember seeing something on it on their website, but I can't find it.
  5. Yup.

  14. Haha!!! Imagine if the capitol of Ohio was Bjarni Herjólfsson, or just Herjólfsson!!!
  15. Haha!!! I actually remembered and got it out of my history class notes from two years ago, so yeah, maybe most of it didn't come out of my memory. I just looked up to see if I spelled his name right!!!
  16. Bjarni Herjólfsson was the first European explorer to discover the Americas in 985-986 A.D. Originally from Norway, he visited his father in Iceland every summer. Once, while searching for his father who had gone with Eric the Red to Greenland, a storm blew him and his ship's crew off course after departing from Iceland. He and his crew ended up accidentally sighting land covered with trees and mountains that was not Greenland. Although his crew urged him to stop and explore the new land, he remained stubborn and pressed on to regain his course to Greenland to see his father. Bjarni reported his findings of the new land in Greenland and Norway, but nobody seemed to be interested at the time, until 10 years later when the Viking Leif Ericson bought the ship Bjarni had used for the voyage, hired a crew of 35 people, and set out to see the new land. The result was thought to be a Viking settlement in L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland, Canada, making it the first known attempt by Europeans of settling the new land. So, ultimately, Columbus was not the first to discover America.

  22. Wow, good thing no one was hurt!!! I guess this means either SFRD Engine 10, 12, or 14 will take it's place for now. It's hard to tell if they'll repair it or not, seeing the extent of the damage. They may end up just getting a new one.
