At this time, I'm not sure when or if I will be moving the old avatars over. HOWEVER, you can now upload your own avatars to your profile by going to your control panel and clicking on the Manage Avatars link on the left sidebar.

Welcome to the NEW EMTBravo Network Forums!!! As you may notice, there are a lot of differences and additional features as compared to the old board. Not only do the new features benefit you, but they benefit us who adminsiter the forum greatly as well. Although this forum will cost us a little more each month, it is worth it. Over the next few days, as we continue to move in, you may experience some glitches as we continue to set up the forum. Additionally, we are working to reappoint moderators to their respective forums. If you need anything in the meantime, please contact me. The ranks system is also being worked on, and is not currently function. Many other new features will be rolled out over the next couple of days. Some of the features that I think members may enjoy are the new enhanced member profiles, the ability to retrieve a lost password on your own, ability to upload your own avatars, enhanced search feaures, an event calendar, a birthday calendar, and among many other things I'm forgetting, an ability to better organize and view/use the board to suit your needs. There is a learning curve to this board, and as you get used to it, you will start to like it more. And don't forget to update your bookmarks/link likst: http://emtbravo.invisionzone.com/index.php? Any questions, problems, comments, ideas or concerns please contact me, EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com Enjoy the new forum!

We're currently considering/developing an idea to display photos captured on a camera phone on the site. Unfortunetly, the quality and size of these photos are not good enough to be displayed in the usual ways on the site. However, since it seems that some good shots are captured using these devices, if there are enough submissions, we may create a section just for these photos. If interested, please submit your photos to: EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com

Copied from another thread on this issue....typed by me, just didn't feel like typing it again, lol.

Nobody thinks it may be a bit overdone or flashy for a year-round banner?? Thanks to WAS and all posting on the positive feedback too, I appreciate it. :-)

Basically, what WAS said. Thanks WAS.

Dear Members: As many of you are aware, it costs money to operate this site. From webhosting space, software, bandwith, computer and photographic equipment, and other related time and costs etc it can and has been getting quite expensive. Until now, the site has been privately funded by the EMTBravo Group. In recent months, many members have asked how they could help. After many months of careful consideration and research, we have come up with two options. One is this, a donation center. The other, an EMTBravo Store, we hope to have online very soon. Our intention is not to make a profit from this site, we just wish to cover our monthly operating expenses. Any profit from the donation pool will be re-invested back into the site for future projects. We tried everything we could to not ask members for their financial help, but in order to grow the site even more, we can no longer do this exclusively through EMTBravo's limited private funding. In order to make everyone's donation appropriate and fair, we have limited the amount to $4.00 a person (after the Paypal fee, we get $3.53 of that) per month. You can make a one-time donation or come back monthly to donate. If you wish to make a donation, please click on the link below. PLEASE include your EMTBravo Network ID in the comments section. The service we use to recieve our donations is Paypal, a popular and secure online transaction site used by thousands of businesses and Ebay customers. All members that include their EMTBravo Network ID in the comments during payment will have their names listed on this thread. Thank you for your continued support. -EMTBravo Webteam P.S. The contribution to EMTBravo is completly voluntary and does not entitle you to any special treatment or privleges. In the future, donating members will have some exclusive features on the board and may be able to participate in drawings for prizes, depending on how succesful the program is. We are verified through PayPal. Further comments, questions, etc can be emailed to EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com

I'm considering some consolidations at this time. I'm not going to merge training and events, but I am considering the following: Training Oppurtunities And Training into one Deletion of the Fire And EMS Tools Merging The Apparatus And New Deliveries Forum Merging FDNY Apparatus And FDNY Operations I am just CONSIDERING the above at this time. Also, if we upgrade the forum, it will be easier to organize. But that is a ways off. All Members, Please add your input

To answer some of the questions presented in this thread: Polls are a moderator-only feature. This was done because people were using polls way too much, and mainly making polls just to make polls, without having a legitmate issue, which detracted from the more legitamate polls. Also, there was a slight software glitch with the polls, which is why it was completly turned off for a while. If you have an good idea for a poll, contact a moderator. Moderators are appointed by me, based on member behavior on the board. This includes, among other things, knowledge of topics, being able to keepo the forum active and within rules, spelling and grammar, and willingness to help fellow forum members. Wow. Of all the negative criticism I've been subject to recently via postings on this board and emails, this bothers me a lot.Just the way that was presented, jeesh. Kinda of a harsh way to present it. How about asking me why it's up there first? I originally put that feed in to test a beta blog feed. I kept it up for a little while, and when I did take it down, I recieved several emails from members asking me to put it back up because they enjoyed it and seeing the interesting releases and activities of the LA City FD. If it's bothering people, then I will take it down. BTW, what is your problem with the feed anyways?? Just scroll past it.....

Recently, I've noticed several threads which have gone off topic or have been "hijacked" by certain members to hold their own conversations, or make humorous remarks between each other that have nothing to do with a thread. I feel this is rude and disrespectful to the person creating the thread. There is no need for the amount of times this has been occuring on this forum. Any posts that cause a thread to go significantly off topic, are hijacked, or uneccesary or unrelated comments are posted WILL be deleted. I'm growing quite tired of it, as are several members. Please be respectful to the member creating the post, and keep the uneccesary and hijacking remarks out.

If/When/If we decide to upgrade to the new version of PHPBB when it is released, there will be many new features, inlcuding subforums. That means, you will click on "The Lounge", and then goe to a menu of sub-categories, such as "Street Eats" But that's a ways off. For now, it will be a TRIAL forum in "The Lounge" section. Skooter92 developed the idea, and will be the moderator. If he wants a co-moderator, it's up to him. You guys wanted this forum, so make it work. I'll give it a while to see how it works. As far as the threads suggested by Skooter and WAS, make those sticky running threads. Thanks to Skooter and everybody on this thread for their input.

What is Photofeed? EMTBravo.com PhotoFeed is a new Beta section that I created to help deal with the large amount of submitted photos, and the recent backlash towards me over time it takes to post photo, or even get photos posted. This page will display single image photos with a caption and credit ID. The idea behind this section was to allow me to post those photos that aren't enough to make a complete set, photos that do not fit in other areas, and those photos that I do not always have time to post. This section will allow me to also post some photos temporarily until I have time to get around to posting the whole set, and will also allow me to post single photos that are submitted. This section will be updated, like the rest of the site, as time permits and as photos are submitted, hopefully a couple of times a week. The newest photos will be posted at the top, with the older photos being pushed towards the bottom. An archive system is still being developed. You can tell when there is/was an update by checking the posted "Last Updated" date. More to follow as warranted.....

In some cases, over a month. Why aren't the LA County Pix up?? As I emailed you, they were too small to display on the site. I will be posting new/revised photo submission guidleines on the site to clear things up.

There is a policy-standard that I have abided by, although not published. It is on my list of things to do to post that though. These types of photos have not been published, nor will be. The exception is incidents where something may be learned or gained from the display of the photos, and that's only with the express permission of the subjects involved in the incident (such as we walked away from this because we were wearing our seatbelts...such was the reason why the T-10 photos were published) This site DOES NOT post photos just to post them, or just to show them. There is always a reason behind the photos. I am quite insulted that you would even think or imply that I would post such photos as LODD incidents just to post them or just to show them. That's not what this site is about. I review, consider, and hand edit and post every single photo that comes throught the EMTBravo email, which takes hours. Often I debate whether it's appropriate to post certain photos or not. Decisions include media coverage, etc etc.... The primary purpose of incident photos being posted is to show firefighter, EMS personel, and their apparatus working, not the incident itself. Most of the time, a photo of the fire itself is posted to give perspective to such.

Please be advised we are beta testing a rank image system. The purpose of the rank system is to enhance rank visibilty and status visibilty, and enable future feature development for this board. You can view the rank image under your name in a post. Ranks are based either on the number of posts, or your rank on the board (Banned, Member, Sponsor, Moderator, Team Member, Developer, Administrator) The rank images are as follows: (Less than five posts:) Member (5+ Posts:) Member (10+ Posts:) Member (25+ Posts:) Member (50+ Posts:) Member (75+ Posts:) Member (100+ Posts:) Member (Moderators:) Moderator Anyone found to be making posts to increase their rank will have their post count and rank reduced immediately. Since this system is in beta development, it may change in many forms. This program may also not be a permanent feature. There are still some bugs to be worked out, and some things to be changed/tweaked/added. Some members with custom ranks are still missing a rank image. Any feedback is welcomed, emtbravo@emtbravo.com

CAM, Thanks for the interest! And thanks to all for the kind words. The main site, www.emtbravo.com started being built on 12/31/02, and went live 1/1/03. The idea for the site was based on x635's (my other personality's) desire to share all the Westchester County FD and EMS photos and news he recieved from his many sources. It also expanded on the popular Westchester email news list produced by x635. There was also no website of this type for Westchester County, NY. From there, due to all the support, ideas, encouragement and photographic contributions of everybody who visited the site, the site has "snowballed" into what it is today. An intergral and popular part of EMTBravo.com was the "Westchester Fire and EMS News" section. Visitors of the site would submit news, which would then be manually posted on a single page. This portion was not interactive, and was read only. It contained news such as new and upcoming deliveries, incident reports, personel changes, etc. Maybe I will post a archive clip if I have time. Interesting to note, this was the flagship portion of the original site, and still remains alive today as the brand that incident photos are posted under. On 11/13/03, the EMTBravo Network forums went live. On this date, the forum started from scratch with 0 posts and 0 members. The idea of this forum was to expand on the popularity of the Fire and EMS news section, and make a place where members of the Fire, Rescue, and EMS service could interact to share news, events, incidents, ideas, discussion and related in a friendly and positive format. As the forums have grown, the forum focus and membership has expanded from just Westchester to the lower Hudson Valley and NYC metro area. We also have regularly visiting members of this site from as far away in the US as Los Angeles, and even have several members from Austraillia, Germany, and the UK. And thanks to the ideas and suggestions of moderators and members of this site, it has been tweaked and expanded to better serve the visitors, and is continually tweaked and adjusted. Please note, it's all the members who make this site what it is, not me. I just coordinate everything. And IT IS NOT MY SITE, IT IS YOURS....OURS!!! As for the site name, it grew out of my old email address which I used for the email list. I've had that email name for 12 years now, ever since I've had email. I've considered changing the name of the site several times to something more fitting. But I've been threatened not to by several members of this site. It seems the name has become a brand or something. There is a bit more to the history than above, that's just a short glimpse. When I have more time, maybe I will make a permanent thread regarding it. I never have in the past because I always enjoyed telling the story personally. Although I have wanted to stop doing this several times, it's all the positive feedback I recieve from the members of this site, the great emails that people send, along with seeing the results of a site like this and its benefits, that keeps me going. Hours upon hours go into this site every week, and that includes EVERYBODY who send in pictures, posts, and/or moderates. I enjoy doing these sites as long as I know that you guys are enjoying the site and it remains for the most part a positive place. As for the future, as time allows, I have many more ideas. Feel free to ask any more specific questions that I may not have answered regarding the history of this site, and I'd be more than happy to answer them.

This afternoon, we completed some cosmetic and "behind-the-scene" structural changes to the board. Although the changes are now for the most part complete, we will be tweaking some items over the next week. Some of the cosmetic changes include a complete overhaul to the design and layout of the header and header menu. We also changed some of the colors of the board around, and made the standard text sizes larger. Most of the changes were made to make the board cleaner, easier and freindlier to use, especially for those "computer-impaired" among us. As always, any and all feedback, comments, questions, concerns and constructive criticism is always welcomed...EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com Please let us know if there is anything we can make better!! Thanks! *If you notice any "bugs" or malfuntions of the forum, please contact EMTBravo@EMTBravo.com

Truck4 has been working on compiling a comprehensive regional list of events, INCLUDING PARADES. If you read this forum, it is pinned to the top of the list. To those of you that don't know it's there, you know now. To those who do, I wonder why you disregarded it? Please, if you know of any local FD events or Parades, please PM Truck4 with the details so it can be added to the master list. E64PCFD2044, it is as up to date as per the information available. It is updated as soon as new information is provided. If you know of anything that's not listed there, please PM T4. Here's The Thread: http://emtbravo.just5buckshosting.com/phpB...opic.php?t=3791 In addition to the above, feel free to discuss any specific event or event specifics in an independent thread. Thanks!

Additionally, the paragraph preceeding the photos said comments ON THE PHOTOS themselves were welcome. DO NOT misinterpet that!!! Anybody needing a clarification on that, as simple and clear as that is, please email or PM me ASAP. Now back to the discussion on the photos....

All Off Topic Discussion has been split into a new thread in the Training forum. In case some people have not noticed, this is the Fire Photography forum. This thread relates to a general discussion about the photos themselves, NOT THE EVENT! Before anything starts, you are welcome to discuss live burn and other types of training in the correct forum. HOWEVER, anyone found to be armchair quarterbacking or critquing this or ANY other event (without even being there or having factual information!), your posts will be deleted. THAT IS NOT TOLERATED! Also, anyone who posts false or inaccurate information, I will make sure that somebody calls it out. If you are not familar with the rules of this forum, take a moment to read them.
