  1. Members, Bury the hatchet. Career vs. Volunteer. Police vs. Firefighters. It's disgusting. Our jobs, volunteers or career, police officers or firefighters we are in it to serve the public. It's not always a perfect world, and there is always going to be politics, disagreements, etc. However, we all should be looking at it like this. How can we work TOGETHER to improve things in this moment of time? It's NOT about us, it's about the public who depends on us to serve and protect them with the highest level of service possible. If, you, gosh forbid, got into a car accident and were pinned and in needed medical attention ASAP, wouldn't you want someone to get you out of there as soon as possible? We all drive through volunteer and career districts in the course of our days. Would it matter to you who responded at that moment? If you're complaining about the training of volunteers, do something about it. Sign up as an instructor. Figure out how you can help. And vice versa. It could be you that needs them. If you're a volunteer, who cares what career firefighters think of your agency? If you're confident in the service you provide, there should be no reason to have to "defend" yourselves. There are issues between the two, but if you really look at it, a lot of the problems are very similar. We bellyache about volunteer daytime staffing. However, there are career departments that dont have any better staffing anytime. Can we all put aside egos to work together to solve the problems? As far as Cops vs Firefighters, we work together and depend on one another. When we have a possibly violent situation, Fire and EMS stage, and Cops go in and risk their lives to make sure it is safe for firefighters and EMS to go in. They have our back. If that cop, gosh forbid, is to get shot, that Cop depends on Firefighters and EMS to save their lives. We have their back. Those of us who are truly in it to help fellow citizens are sick of it. Open your ears, and learn from one another. You may just learn something simply by listening. There can be respectful and producitve discussions regarding the issues, but by trashing one another, we only create anonymosity and more problems. This site will NOT tolerate it, and the staff is working on a specific set of rules and action/solution plans to address these threads, members, and posts. My opinion represents my guiding views as the founder of this site and the Executive Director. I have many other administrative duties as well to keep this site online. I typically don't get involved with the various daily thread, post, or member issues which are handled independently by the staff, which takes a tremendous stressfull burden off my shoulders and are the reason why the site is still online.. The staff of this site volunteer their time to work together as a team to run this site, on a 24/7 basis.. I have full trust in them, and are an excellent team who have a tremendous workload which many members don't see or appreciate. Our staff consists of carefully handpicked active or retired Police Officers, Career and Volunteer Firefighters and EMS personel, Emergency Communications staff, EOC personel, and many other backgrounds. They understand and can relate to all the members and situations. They have accomplished many great things, and this site wouldn't be what it is without them. Don't waste their time by making them have to "referee". And how can you accomplish this? Respect on another, and bury the hatchet already. Seth G. seth@emtbravo.com
  2. Just a reminder. EMTBravo is what YOU make of it. The content on this site is member driven. YOU can make this site even better. Post links to interesting articles. Post Incident Alerts. Post your Photos. Most importantly, present and post well thought out topics for discussion. If you're complaining abut the content on the site, do something about it.
  3. Stats are pretty much the same as the old forum software. And the stats software is better then the old software, and showing all kinds of new stats, And it's mostly about quality, not quantity. There are some really good discussions that have been going on. I'd rather have 2 excellent topics then 10 mediocre ones.
  4. Is everyone adjusting to the IA's not being in the "Recent Topics" module on the forum index, and instead in the Shoutbox? And, dont forget, you can choose what you want to see when you log in. Using the "View New Topics" feature found at the top right of the forums, you can customize almost excactly what you want to see specifically and how and when you want to see it.
  5. Members, The PHOTO section is for the posting of original photos taken by our members. This means that the photo threads must contain PHOTOS, that you took or are reposting with expressed permission from the original photographer. To post only links to photos, please post it in the appropriate local forum. PHOTO SECTION=PHOTOS, NOT LINKS! Thanks! -Seth G.
  6. Members, If you're going to write an Incident Alert, especially one regarding a serious or major Incident, write it right. This includes: -CONFIRMED Incident's Only! -Having firsthand knowledge of the incident (not guesses, assumptions, or information gained off another website) -Gain the firsthand knowledge from your involvement, those on scene, transmissions heard over dispatch and operations channels, PM's from another member, etc -Use proper spelling and grammar -Go by the IA Template with NO modification Hundreds, sometimes thousands, may read your Incident Alert. We depend on you, the writer, to write the best possible IA. Please take the time to browse incident's posted by other experienced IA Writers to see what a proper IA should look like. We appreciate all those who take the time to write quality and factual Incident Alerts and abide by the policies and procedures of the Incident Alert forum. Thanks EMTBravo.net Webteam
  7. The new forum software has many improved features. One of them is "View New Content". Using that feature found at the top right of the page, you can customize almost excactly what you want to see specifically and how you want to see it. For ease right now, check it out via this link: http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=viewNewContent&search_app=forums
  8. I've removed Incident Alerts from the "Recent Topics" list found on the Board Index, since the can now be found in the Shoutbox. This is due to some members flooding the Recent Topics list with IA's, which distracts from other threads and pushes other topics out of the way. This is a trial only right now.
  9. Thank You lafd55 for your donation of Not Available . Your contribution to the site is very much needed and appreciated. We look forward to using your donation to apply towards monthly and yearly expenses. Your donation also helps towards keeping EMTBravo online with the features members depend on, and the site they expect. Our major monthly expense is running top quality, high speed servers so that the site's giant content database and various features are quick to load. That's just one example of where your donation is going. Other costs are to maintain a consistent and constant source of funding, to help cover domain registration, hosting costs, software license subscription, hardware, funding "droughts" etc.Seth G., Founder & Executive Director On behalf of the entire EMTBravo community. Why Donate? One of the biggest problems facing new and established communities is a source of funding, to provide domain registration, hosting costs, IP.Board license subscription, etc...If you enjoy visiting EMTBravo.net Forums, all donations made are greatly appreciated and will be put to good use maintaining and building a better community for you! Remember any donation made is always appreciated, any amount will help EMTBravo.net Forums continue to provide the best possible experience for you.
  10. I applied a patch to the software. It is working for me. When you edit a shout, a pop up window should appear, Give this a few momemnts to load. Make sure your security software isn't interfering with the Shoutbox Pop Up. Edit the Shout. Hit the "Edit Shout" button. Give it a few seconds to accept. Refresh your page and see if it took. Please make a few test shouts to verify if it is working. Staff will delete test shouts. (Please note: Test please delete in Shout after editing) Please advise of your results on this thread. Thanks Seth
  11. In order to conserve resources, that list does not update often, as it's a very low priority as to who's viewing the shoutbox in the independent module.
  12. OK, the "Users Viewing Topic" and "Users Who Viewed Topic" are back. If someone would just confirm and advise, I'd appreciate it. I apologize, I accidentally turned off that feature and didn't know it. Thank you George for bringing it to my attention.
  13. I agree, I liked those features, too. They were there, and now dissapeared after I installed a security patch. I'm looking into it. As far as the Shoutbox, I can't seem to replicate the issue right now. I was able to post, and Jetphoto right after me. It may take a few seconds to accept.
  14. The site (now) is runing just as fast as it was pre-upgrade, if not faster. Since this site depends heavily on databases, there may be some times in which it will run slower then normal periodically. The new software has better software to deal with that. We also have a dedicated server so that we can have the fastest possible site for our members. Sometimes, we have 500 users accesing different parts of the database at the same time, and you won't notice a difference. I constantly keep up on the server performance and other issues to make sure this site runs perfectly on the tech end of things. Please keep in mind that this can be variable on your side as well. Your computer, operating system, browser, internet connection, cache, ISP, the way you have your EMTBravo.net account configured, and other factors play in to the speed as well.
  15. I am working on the speed issue now. May take a day or two to get it resolved.
  16. I tried to replicate the error on your account,, and it gave me no problem. Could it be your security software? i will try to research this and see what can be done. You're welcome. Is this a constant thing? The server shouldn't be running slow. Around what time did this happen? What browser, ISP, and type of computer are you using? I will research this further once I have the info to go on To clarify, you can save changes made in the Quick reply, but cannot open the full editor? As soon as I can work all the bugs out, then I will adding new skins.
  17. The forum is not locked. The introduction topic is locked. You need to start a new topic.
  18. We created a new forum, entitled "The Sandbox, so that members can play around and experiment with all the new posting features in a live enviroment. All posts will be automatically deleted in a 1/2 hour. You can access "The Sandbox" via the forum index, right below this section, or at the following link: http://www.emtbravo....71-the-sandbox/
  19. Yes. I did away with that feature until I had time to discuss it with members and the staff as to what number would equal in words.
  20. It's a problem that will be fixed when a new mobile app comes out later this year. Right now, I believe it has something to do with your mobile signature being empty.
  21. WIth the exception of resolving some bugs and tweaking a few things, the upgrade is mostly complete. Please continue to post any bugs you may find on this thread.
  22. OK, when you click on a link to a post, from the "Recent Topics" module, it should take you to the first UNREAD post. instead of the first post.
  23. All of the bugs experienced yesterday have been resolved. Shout box should be working again.
  24. To add to the above, I feel really, really bad about this setback. Just when things were starting to run smoothly and many of the major bugs being worked out, and people were starting to get comfortable with the new forums. So, I begun to tweak and add back some features, and it broke several other things in the process. Once I get ahold of exactly where the problem lies and what it is, things should return to normal pretty quickly. Please don't let this dampen your view of the new forums. Issue like this with computer software, especially when newly transitioned, happen, and this occurence will be fixed as soon as it can. I appreciate everyone's patience during this upgrade process.
  25. I went to fix one thing, and broke ten other things. I am aware of the issues being experienced, and am trying to get them fixed but do not have a timeframe.
